FUNFEST WEEKEND: Gowna Development Association have arranged a weekend of entertainment activities and fun for all the family commencing on Saturday 30th July with mobile cinema in the village at Community Centre car park. Sunday car treasure hunt registration at Fitzpatrick Tavern from 5pm. Sunday night Gala variety show. Barn dance and barbecue in the Pikers Lodge Hotel. Show starts at 10pm sharp , prize for best county and western outfits. Monday fun day at GAA park from 1pm. Under 10 blitz Lacken/ Arva Gown/ Mullahoran. Dunking chair. Football shooting skills. Pony & trap rides farm display adults. Its a knockout with teams from Lacken, Arva Gowna and Mullahoran and many more activities on the day. All day barbecue. Also please support the Novelty Triathlon/ relay on Saturday 13th August at 2pm . Proceeds in aid of Beaumont Hospital.

BREFFNI 20K: The annual Breffni 20K challenge will take place on Sunday next 30th July and involves walking jogging and running from Cavan to Arva or a shorter distance from Ballinagh to Arva in aid of St Lukes Hospital National Breast Cancer Research Institute and Cavan Cancer Homecare. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to Francis Harten Portanure Loch Gowna on the recent death of his sister in law Mrs Philamena Harten Portmarnock Dublin. Also sympathy to Philamena ‘s husband PJ daughters Michelle and Graine. May she rest in peace.

CONGRATTULATIONS: Congratulations to the Cavan Minor team who played Armagh in the Ulster Final in Clones on Sunday 17th July and won the first minor championship since 1974(37 years) and especially to team player Andrew Dewart and joint team management of Dermot McCabe and Gary Donohoe. Well done to the Gowna lads.

LADIES GAA: Gowna Ladies GAA will hold a Cake Sale and Coffee Morning on Sunday, July 31 after Mass in St Bridget;s Community Centre. Donations of cakes and buns would be very nuch appreciated. Items can be left in the community centre from 10:30am onwards. Your support would be very much appreciated.
