COMPETITION: Kilglass Gaels are currently running a ‘Last Person Standing’competition to raise much needed funds, with prize money of 1000 euro. Entry is 10 euro and you simply select one team to win in the opening round of the premiership week end on the 13th/14th August. If your selection is successful you select a different team to win on the second and subsequent weekends. If your selected team looses or draws you are eliminated from the competition. Thus the last person standing wins 1000 euro. The competition is being co ordinated by Dermot Washington 087 6523951 and entry forms are available from the club officials and players.

WEDDING BELLS: Congratulations to Denise O’Leary and Michael Campbell, Lios na Habhainn, Rooskey who were married in Newtownforbes church on Saturday last with a reception afterwards in the Shannon Key West hotel. We wish them a long and happy life together.

SOCIAL OUTING: A four day trip to Dingle, Co Kerry takes place on the 2nd week end of September. Contact Eileen on 086 3702547 for further details.

WEDDING: The wedding took place on the 23rd of July last between Fintan Shanley, Bornacoola, and Marie Mahady, Druminmore, Rooskey, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel church, Rooskey, with celebrants Fr Eamon Conaty and Fr Gerry O’Brien. Best man was Michael O’Farrell. Groomsmen were Sean Shanley and Dermot Blake. Chief bridesmaid was Martina Mahady, bridesmaids, Lisa O’Connor and Karen O’Farrell. Page boy was Eoin Shanley, flower girl, Ciara Lavin. A lively reception took place at the Landmark hotel, Carrick on Shannon. The parish wishes Marie and Fintan a long and happy life together.

CHARITY CYCLE: Adrian Duffy, Lavagh is taking part in a 30 km charity cycle race for Hospice in Sligo on Saturday 30th of July. Sponsorship is available locally. Please support.

BIRTHDAY: Congratulations to Natalie McHugh, Mullagh, on her recent 18th birthday celebrations.
