BOB THE BUILDER: Bornacoola senior goalie Bobby Shanley will travel to Ghana from 4-17 of September to help out with a school building project there. To raise some funds for the project there will be a function in the Weir Lodge on Sunday night next with a reunion for one night only of Criteria (Ronnie & Feargal). Admission optional, your support would be greatly appreciated.
BORNACOOLA GAA: Bornacoola was in action on Saturday last in the first round of the senior championship. Carrigallen was the opposition. The game was played in Carrick on Shannon. Bornacoola started well and led at the interval by five points but it was to be a game of two halves. Carrigallen came out in the second half with some positional changes and within a short time had two goals and three points on the scoreboard. Bornacoola rallied back and were in hard luck for two goals but again it was not to be and the old saying ‘goals wins games’ came true in this occasion. Carrigallen came out winners on a final scoreline of Bornacoola 0.14, Carrigallen 3.08. Next Saturday evening Bornacoola is back in action for what is a must win game for the club when the lads take on county champions Glencar Manorhamilton with a throw in time of 6pm. On Sunday our junior A team are in action in the championship v Kiltubrid (check fixture list or details).
CLUB DRAW: The Bornacoola GAA Club draw for July will take place in The Copper Still on Saturday next. Usual prizes, music by Niall McGowan. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
SCRAP COLLECTION: Last week I mentioned Bornacoola’s scrap metal collection was now complete but there is still time as there will be one more load to go, so anyone who has unwanted metal, cookers, electrical goods etc contact Aiden Hackett or indeed any club member. When I was thanking those who provided collection facilities last week I omitted the McDermott family, Clooncarne so my apologies for that and thank you for same.

ALL-IRELAND DRAW: Bornacoola is holding a draw in conjunction with the All-Ireland football final. Envelopes will be on sale with four random times in them. The purchaser will put their name on the envelope and the times inside are his or hers time of which the first goal might be scored in the All-Ireland final in the event of no goals being scored the ‘no goal’ ticket will win. The lucky winner will pocket €500. Envelopes are on sale from any club member at a cost of €5.

ANNADUFF GAA: Annaduff play Drumreilly in Ballinamore in the club’s first game in the Senior Championship at 6pm on Saturday evening next. In the Junior “A” Championship Sean O’Heslin will be the opponents in Cloone on Sunday at 1:30pm.

LEITRIM LADIES: Leitrim Ladies are currently running a fundraiser to help pay for the costs of the trip to Ruislip to play London in the Intermediate Championship. The club will be holding the first Leitrim 10k Dawn Run/Walk on Saturday August 6 from the St Mary’s GAA Clubhouse in Carrick. It is €15 to enter which includes breakfast. So it rained on the poor Dubs, terrible, the rest of the country could be flooded out and not a mention of it! Still time to get rid of any old scrap metal.
