Timmy is proprietor of Dromod Boxty and his boxty, pancakes etc, can be purchased in shops and supermarkets all over the country. WEDDING BELLS

Last Saturday saw the marriage in St Joseph’s Church, Cloonturk of Miss Corrina Dooley and Mr John Byrne who both hail from the Celbridge area. The wedding reception was held afterwards in Lough Rynn Castle where local band Late Night Radio entertained. We wish you many years of health and happiness.

GAA CLUB DRAW

The February draw in the Bornacoola gaa club draw took place in the Vibe bar Dromod on Saturday night last. Winners were as follows; 100 euro Donal Clancy, Melvin Gales 20 euro each Denise Armstrong, Marian Grady, Michael Duignan, Declan Cox and Breda Doran. Thanks to all who supported, to Morgan and Bobby for the use of the Vibe and to Enda Hayden for the entertainment.

We extend our condolences to the family and friends Sean Lenehan, Gurrane North, Belclare, Tuam, Galway who died following a road traffic accident on February 19th last. Sean was laid to rest Donaghpatrick Cemetery, Co. Galway on Wednesday February 23rd. May he Rest in Peace.

YOUTH CLUB

Bornacoola Youth club would like to thank the teachers and staff of Scoil Mhuire for their help with our no uniform day to raise funds for the club. Also to the children and parents for their support. Youth Club continues on Friday night with senior club. This week we have a first aid course for all senior members. The clothes bank is still available at the community centre so again we would ask people to bring their old clothes and support your local club and also cancer research. The club would like to thank every one for their support to date.

SCOR

Last Saturday night the Leitrim final of Scor Sinsear took place in Ballinamore. Bornacoola qualified in recitation where Louise Staunton recited “The Ballad of The Tinkers Wife” and the question time team of Liam Rabbit Aiden and Marie Therese Dockery there was no luck this time for Vera from Cloonboney in the new category of Sean nos Dancing, keep at it Vera your day will come. Well done to one and all.

BORNACOOLA GAA

Bornacoola had their first game in the division 1 league on Saturday last when the played host to Melvin Gales inj Dromod. The North Leitrim side proved stronger right from the start and led all the way to the end coming out easy winners on a scoreline of Bornacoola 0.07 Melvin Gales 2.09. On Sunday morning our ladies hosted a challenge match with Aughnasheelan. Bornacoola emerged easy winners but it was a great work out for the girls who will start their league campaign next weekend. A meeting of all ladies players and parents of those intending to play ladies underage in 2011 will take place in the club on this Friday the 11th March at 9pm. Fixtures for next weekend are div. 1 away to Dromahair Saturday at 3.45pm, div 2 at home Sunday to Kiltubrid and minor also on Sunday away to Gortlettragh 3.30 throw in. please support if you can.

ANNADUFF

Annaduff beat Carrigallen by 1.10 to 0.09 in Carrigallen. Although they failed to score for the first 25 minutes Annaduff were much the better team after that and ran out deserving winners by four points. Best for Annaduff were Dermot Reynolds, David Duignan, Matty Cox, Brendan Guckian, David McHugh, Ronan McCormack and Ray Cox. In Division 4 Annaduff lost to Aughnasheelan by 2.12 to 1.08

CLEAN UP

Our annual road clean up took place on Saturday last first out to help were the three Dromod Station ladies Mary Denise and Ann Marie who were soon joined by Naomi those ladies took on the task of picking the litter from the football pitch to Cloonturk hall. From there to Cloonboney Lake was covered by Padraig, Lance, John, Shane, Seamus, Joseph, Henry and myself. We collected 25 bags of rubbish. Another group of volunteers headed by Ita gathered the rubbish around the Clooneagh/Drumard area filling a whopping 38bags. This all comes from passing motorists so if you see anyone dumping by the side of the road report them. The rest of the road from Cloonboney Lake to Mohill will be cleaned up next Saturday starting at 10am.
