CANARIES - Newtowncashel Drama Group’s production of “Canaries” by Bernard J Farrell will be staged again in “The Hill” on Friday March 11th due to popular demand.

Congratulations to the five Golden Jubilarians who received their emblems and diplomas at mass on Temperance Sunday. Ten children enrolled as Young Pioneers.
With the current economic climate there are rumours that both the Rural Transport Scheme and the Lough Ree Co-Op are under threat. It would be a shame if either or both of these very important services are cut as both are vital to the fabric of our rural community.
If there is any indication that we are going to have to do without these, please let your voice be heard, as so many people depend on them!
During Lent, Mass will be celebrated at 7.00am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, beginning on Ash Wednesday. This arrangement will give a greater number of people an opportunity to receive the ashes and to come to Mass during Lent.

Newtowncashel Badminton Club has resumed activities on Thursday nights in “The Hill” at 9.00pm. Members are invited to retrieve their racquets and take to the court! New players are welcome.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
The Stations of the Cross is a devotion that may be performed at any time of year but is particularly suited to the Lenten Season. Instead of the Rosary, the Way of the Cross will be followed on the Fridays of Lent at 7.30pm. All are urged to make a special effort to participate in this traditional devotion.
Fr Brady expresses his appreciation and thanks, for their welcome, hospitality and generosity, to the thirteen households who hosted the Spring Station Masses. Thanks in particular to the households who stepped in to ensure the continuity of the Station tradition in their areas.
The monthly meeting will be held in “The Hill” on Ash Wednesday, March 9th, at 9.00pm.
Longford County Council has commenced the laying of ducting preparatory to the undergrounding of overhead electricity lines and the erect ion of ornate lighting columns. This will be the most significant enhancement of the Village streetscape in several years.
The Parish Pastoral Council will meet in “The Hill” on Thursday March 24th at 8.30pm.
The Toddler Group meets in “The Hill” every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am. All welcome!
