Our U14s round four league match v Carrigallen was played on Saturday morning 11th April. It was a very competitive game with both teams playing some great football. Carrigallen won by 5 points, but it was a great effort by our lads. The final score was Carrigallen 1-11 Gort Leitreach 2-03.
The team was Killian McAuley, James Cunningham, Tom Reel, Mark Reynolds, Shane Reynolds, Brendan Davis, Oisin Niblock, Odhrán Heslin, Cian McNulty, Jamie Quinn Conor Niblock and Dáire Heslin. In our last round match we played Cill Tiobraid on Friday last in Gort Leitreach. It was a great game of football with each team taking the lead several times during the 50 minutes. The lads gave it their all, but with virtually the last kick of the game Cill Tiobraid scored a point to rescue a draw. Well done to both teams for providing a very entertaining game. A special word of thanks has to go to our own Tom Reel who gave up a weekend trip to England to stay and play the game. It made the difference as the draw will put us into at least a playoff to reach the league Final. The final score was Gort Leitreach 6-07 Cill Tiobraid 6-07. The team was Killian McAuley, Ryan Cunningham, Tom Reel, James Cunningham, Mark Reynolds, Brendan Davis, Kieran Reen, Odhrán Heslin, Shane Reynolds, Oisin Niblock, Jamie Quinn, Dáire Heslin, Conor Niblock and Brendan Naughton.
The Gortletteragh seniors defeated Carrigallen on Saturday evening last by 1 – 17 to 1 – 7 to get our first league points of the campaign. It was a good team effort and many of the younger players put in very good performances.
