Successful Fishing Trip
We congratulate members of Inny Anglers Club who competed in the World Pike Boat Fishing Championships on Lough Ree in Athlone last week. They all performed very well over the three days. Paul Haldroyd came 3rd on day one with a Pike weighing 18lbs, Kevin Gannon came 4th with a 21 lbs Pike on day two. The Club members came 12th overall from a total of 180 Anglers and 82 Boats over the three days. Well done to all involved.
Legan Inny Anglers Club held their Lotto draw on Friday night, April 24th in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €7,150. Numbers drawn were 9, 12, 15 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Megan Lyons and Leona O’Neill. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s and if you’re not in you can’t win.
Result of GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 20th April in The Hill, Carrickboy for a jackpot of €10,000. Numbers drawn were 1, 4, 5 and 15. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winners of €35 each were Corey Doherty, L&A&B Tierney and Brendan Kelly. This week’s draw took place on Monday 27th in Mitchell’s and results will be published next week.

The Legan Drama Group presented representatives from Lenamore National School and Naoi Rath Ré Creche with a cheque for €600 each net proceeds from the final night performance of The Real McCoy. The recipients expressed thanks and delight for the presentation.

The annual general meeting of Longford Federation ICA was held on Wednesday, 23rd April in The Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule hosted by Newtownforbes Guild. After three years of service a number of positions were vacated. Mae Campbell has been President for the past three years and has put a lot of hard work and effort to promote develop and foster ICA in Longford. Together with dedicated committees the profile and membership of ICA in Longford has prospered. The new Federation President is Legan Guild President, Mary Carthy who has accepted the position for the coming year. We wish her the very best of luck and success. We also congratulate Annmarie Donohoe who was elected Federation Treasurer and Margaret McDonald who was elected Timire Secretary. We wish all well for the year ahead.

The death has occurred of Hughie Brady, late of Ardandra, Carrickboy in the USA where he has resided since the 1950s. To his brother, John and sister, relatives and friends, we extend our sincere sympathy.
