Community Games

Art and crafts competitions will take place in Mullinalaghta Community Centre on this Sunday, 22nd March. Proceedings will get underway at 6.30pm lasting for one hour. Entry into the room following commencement is forbidden. Competition is open to all boys and girls under 12. All taking part must bring their own paper, colour and craft material. Hard luck to our U13 girls fustal who lost out in the county semi final in Kenagh on Sunday last. Captained by Ava Donohoe, other team members were Sineád Reilly, Sophie Kiernan Molloy, Aoife Leonard and Siobhán Leonard. As a team they accounted very well of themselves and can be proud of their performance. The girls are now concentrating on participating in the U13 basketball competition.


Killeen Dramatic Society presents ‘’The Real McCoy’’ a three part comedy act by Tommy Marren in The Community Centre, Granard on Thursday and Friday, 26th and 27th February and again on Monday 2nd March. Curtain up at 8.30p.m. Support would be appreciated.

Art Classes

A six week acrylic and water – colour painting course will be held in Granard Community Library on every Tuesday morning from 10.00a.m. - 11.30a.m. Fee for course is €50. For further details call Mary on 087 0606276 or Rosemary at Granard Community Library on 043 6686164.

Fundraising Hunt

The Longford Harriers Fundraising Hunt takes place on Saturday next 21st February in conjunction with Mullinalaghta Development. The hunt commences from outside the church at 12.00 noon. There will be refreshments in the community centre after the hunt from 2.30p.m. There will be a raffle for a hamper in association with the event and the draw will take place around 3p.m. Tickets will be available on the day or in the post office in the coming week. Please come out and support the occasion which Longford Harriers have kindly participated in for the past three years.

St. Christopher’s

The Granard Branch of St. Christopher’s Services has organised a play by Seamus O Rourke - ‘’ Padraig Potts guide to Walking’’ on the 20th February in Granard Community Centre at 8.30p.m. There will be a raffle and door prizes. Tickets at €10 each are available from committee members or on the door. Please support and have a great night.

Holy Hour

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament with the Rosary takes place in St. Columba’s Church each Thursday evening from 8p.m. - 9p.m. All are welcome.

Lotto Draw

St. Columba’s G.F.C held their weekly lotto draw in The Angler’s Rest on Friday, 13th February. The numbers drawn were 1, 5, 14, 17 with the jackpot of €7,000 remaining intact. Consolation prizes of €20 went to Teresa Sullivan, Larkfield. Mary Sullivan, Larkfield. Pat Dolan, Mullinroe. Sean Keogh, Larkfield and Patrick & Colette McGivney, Clooneen. Ladies Footballers

As part of their fundraising activities the local ladies football club are holding a weekly draw based on the bonus ball in the main draw of the national lottery. Sheets are on sale in the local post office or are available from any club member. Match the bonus ball in Saturday night’s main draw and you will earn yourself €20. Lines are just €2. Six monthly tickets are now due for renewal at €50 each by contacting Marie Matthews. Your support would be very much appreciated each week. The winning number on Saturday 14th February was 10 with Siobhán Leonard winning €20.

St. Columba’s GFC will hold a race night in Keogh’s on Saturday, 14th March. More details at a later date. Horses will be on sale in the coming week. Your support would be very much appreciated.
