A six week course of evening classes in drawing and painting, will begin on Wednesday, 18th Febuary in the Heritage Centre, Ardagh from 7:30am to 9:30pm. Suitable for beginners or intermediate students. Contact Loretto at 0868478527 for details.

Arthritis Longford Branch

We are running the following courses which are adapted exercises suitable for people with arthritis or other limitations: “Chair Yoga” New course Wednesday, 25th February at 11am in the Family Centre, Longford. 6 sessions for €50. Contact Mary at 087-1404200 or 043-6675061. Walking/ strolling group - every Thursday at 11am, meet at the Mall Complex, Longford Town. Aquafit every Tuesday at 11:30am and Wednesday at 8pm in the Longford Arm Leisure Centre.

Community Games

This week saw a number of children from the area take part in both the U13 Chess and the U13 Boys Futsal. U-13 Chess - On Wednesday evening our chess team of Colm Hoysted, Paul Smyth, Norah May Pearman Howard, Daniel Hayden, Ronan Keenan, Alison Keegan and Eliza Jane Pearman Howard played Kenagh in the county final. The team secured the county title for the second year in a row and now go on to play either Meath or Louth in the first round of the Leinster finals due to be held in Longford on 7th of June.

U13 Boys Futsal: The Futsal team of Cian Hartmann, Adam Reilly, Shane Quinn, Daniel Hayden, Diarmuid Farrell, Jack Mulleady, Cathal Keenan, Jack Gallagher met Kenagh in the first round and were successful and progressed to the quarter finals where they met a very strong Clonguish team. Clonguish were the better team on the day and the AMG team exited the competition.

Track and Field Date: The date for our track and field day will be announced shortly. Upcoming dates: Art Competition on Saturday, 28th of February in St Emer’s National School commencing at 10am. Table Quiz on Friday, 6th March in The Park House Hotel, Edgeworthstown commencing at 7pm.

Talent on Sunday, 8th March in Backstage Theatre commencing at 10am.

Table Tennis on Friday, 13th of March in Ardagh Community Centre, commencing at 6pm. Swimming competition on Monday 4th May in Longford Swimming Pool. County Track and Field events take place on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st of May. Leinster Competition: The first round of the Leinster Finals takes place on the 7th of June in Longford. Any teams that have won county competitions will be competing on this date. National Competition: The National Finals take place in Athlone over the dates of 15th to the 23rd of August. Winner’s of the Handwriting, Art, Model Making, Swimming, Talent and track/field events at County Competition will progress directly to the National Finals.
