Local football supporters must wait another year for a chance to win the Plunkett Cup following the Senior teams defeat at the hands of Ballinagh on Sunday evening, The lads made the ideal start with two excellent goals but this lead was quickly eroded by the county champions and from then on the locals trailed for the rest of the game despite having a great first half. The championship this year was a stop start affair and the long wait for this game didn’t help the momentum of the team. Well done lads and better luck next time. Meanwhile congratulations to local clubman, Danny Brady on being selected as manager of county minor team and no doubt he will bring his expertise both as a player and trainer to good use and we wish him the best of luck in his new role.
Kilcogy village entered the national Tidy Towns competition for the first time this year and had a good showing in their category as a result. The adjudicator provided some helpful and constructive feedback to those in the village area who will no doubt be using that feedback to deliver even greater results in the competition in the coming years. The village was rightfully praised for the monument to Seán Maguire and local musicians as well as the wonderful floral displays in the area and along the approach roads. Everyone in the area has been working hard over the course of the year and great credit must go to all in Kilcogy Community Development and those helping them for the effort that is poured into this and other endeavours.
