After 32 years service in St Mary’s N.S, Padraig Flynn is retiring. We are having a retirement party on Sunday, 22nd June to celebrate Padraig work and dedication to the school. The committee members are calling to all the houses in the parish to hand out invitations for the event, from the 19th May, they will also give a envelope to each household and if people wish to make a donation towards the funding of the event they can do so at this time. It would be greatly appreciated. If there are people outside the parish who would like to make a donation they can send it into the school or give it to any committee member. The committee members are Betty Whitney, Geraldine Connnaughton, Margaret Beirne, Catherine Kelly, Sarah McNamara, Michael Manning, Sheila Lambden, Jennifer Gilmartin, and Jennifer Evans. We are gathering photographs and stories about Padraig’s time in St Mary’s NS. If people have any old photos or stories, they can drop them into the school or to any committee member. We are trying to contact as many people as possible, who would have been connected with the school during Padraig’s time as Master. We are setting up a facebook group to try to help us let as many people as possible know about Padraig retirement.
Are looking for new members, anyone interested, please contact Cyrian Connaughton for membership form or any committee member.
Following on from the AGM last week, it cannot be stressed enough to the community the importance of supporting your local lotto. Without this the RCD will no longer exist and all amenities and the Centre will close, that is how important it is to support the lotto. It’s only two euro every two weeks, its not a lot to ask. So we ask you to please save your Community Centre, Playground, and the field by supporting the lotto. If every house in the village bought a ticket, it would make a great difference, so please support. Thank you.
Get well wishes to Eileen O’Neill, Russagh, Rathowen, who is in hospital at the moment. It’s also good to see Paddy Tighe out and about again after a short spell in hospital.
Congratulations to Julieanne Moran, Killenaugh, Rathowen, who won an All Ireland basketball medal during the week.
