Social dancing continues on Sunday night in the Stags Head with music by the Lancers.

On Friday night, the 23rd, there will be a benefit night in the Stags Head 9pm til late for Dominic Norton who has had serious brain surgery and has more to come in the next month. Music on the night by Carmel McLoughlin, door prize & raffle on the night. Refreshments served. Tickets 10 euro, available from all businesses in the village, also from Brian Gorman, Michael Stephenson, Elizabeth Hearney and John Dowd. Your support would be gratefully appreciated.
Judging for this competition takes place from June 1st . Thanks to all the people who have helped so far. Anyone wishing to help out are very welcome. We meet each Saturday at 3pm. New flower pots have been placed on the bridges, thanks to all who helped with this project and also the new flower bed on approach roads. Thanks to Neil Rawle who provided the top soil. We encourage the community to help out with strimming, planting of flowers, sweeping etc. We meet this Saturday at 3pm. Contact any committee member if you have any suggestion to improve our village appearance.
Fundraiser head shave 30th May Coys bar Longford starting at 9.30pm in aid of Laurel Lynn house, Ireland’s only children’s hospice and St James Hospital foundation. Marion Prendergast and Jo Purkis from Killoe will be shaving their heads to raise money for these worthy charities, there will be leg waxing and a monster raffle. DJ and food on the night. Admission optional , come along and enjoy whilst raising awareness for cancer research and Ireland’s children with life limiting conditions. The night is in memory of the late Mickey Shaughnessy, Graffogue Ballinalee who passed recently.
Cycle and Climb
The 4th Annual Glenn Brady Memorial Cycle and Climb, from Longford to Croagh Patrick will take place on Sunday June 1st. This is a very enjoyable and rewarding challenge, setting off from Longford at 4:30am to complete the 147km cycle and then take on the 3.5 hour climb of Croagh Patrick. The popularity of this event has grown massively since it began in 2011, and 2014 will be bigger than ever. Register now at www.glennbradycycle.com, Registration closes on Saturday May 24th.
