The organisers of the recent Alzheimers Tea Day fundraiser gratefully thank all who supported so generously. A total of €601was raised and has been forward to the local Alzheimers Society.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Larry Beggs, Ballycloghan, who passed away last week following a short illness. Larry who was a native of Dublin came to live with Jackie in Ballycloghan a number of years ago. He was very popular and supported all community activities. He was laid to rest following Cremation on Friday last. May he rest in Peace.

Inny Anglers

Results of Inny Anglers Lotto draw held in The Hill, Carrickboy on Friday, 9th May. Numbers drawn were 9, 10, 15 and 24. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners of €40 each were Sharon Coughlan and Maureen Boyce. This week’s draw takes place in Mitchell’s on Friday, 16th May for a jackpot of €4,800. Tickets are now on sale.

Centre for Independent Living

Longford Centre for Independent Living most sincerely thank everyone who supported the recent presentation of the play Big Maggie by Legan Drama Group which raised €2,345 for the organisation. All money raised goes directly to the provision of home support services to people with physical and or sensory disabilities between the ages of 18-65 years within our own community and throughout County Longford.

GAA

Results of Legan Sarsfield GAA Lotto draw held on Monday, 5th May in Connaughton’s for a jackpot of €9,350. Numbers drawn were 4, 13, 23 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. Match three of €100 was Phil Slowey. This week’s draw took place in Slowey’s and results will be published next week. The winner of the attractive first prize for the “Last Man Standing” result of the National League campaign was Eric Tonks, Edgeworthstown.

Community Games

On behalf of the Legan/ Ballycloughan Community Games Committee, we would like to thank all involved in the running and organising of our field day. Well done to all the children who participated. We 

would like to thank a number of people which include: Joe Fox Vice President 

of National Community Games for joining us and his encouraging words to all, 

Colm Ward Water for supplying drinking Water and Dunnes Stores for providing fresh fruit. We would also wish Carmel Nulty all the best, as she has officially retired after 15 years of dedication to the Community Games. Training will continue every Saturday morning at 12.00 pm in GAA Pitch in preparation for County Finals in Ballymahon. 

This year we have entered the “HSE Community Games Healthy Events 

Award 2014”. This is an incentive to encourage Community Games Areas through their events to use sustainable ways to impact positively on the health of the wider community. Legan & Ballycloughan Community Games Committee with the help of the 

Parents, school, local clubs and the parish will introduce this project.  

The Topics will include: ●Sun Safety ●Physical Activity ●Healthy Eating 

●Substance Misuse ●Mental Health .We welcome any extra help or ideas !!!
