Next Saturday night, March 8th, sees all roads leading to Whitehall Community Centre, Castlepollard, for the much anticipated staging of the latest play from the pen of writer John McManus, who also penned “The Quare Land”, and who will also direct the production. Honda 50 Run
The local Honda 50 enthusiasts club are holding their Annual Charity Honda 50 Run on Sunday, March 30th, starting at 11am. The run will leave from Ringtown GAA Centre, Whitehall, Castlepollard, with registration taking place prior to the departure time of 11.00am, route to be announced. Refreshments, raffle and prizegiving will take place in Ringtown GAA Centre on completion of the event. Proceeds from the event are in aid of local charity. 5K Walk/Race Fun Run
Sunday, March 23rd, sees the staging of the 5K Road Race and Fun Run, starting at 12.00 noon. The event is AAI approved and insured, and is a full road course, and is being organised by Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall GFC. There will be prizes for many categories including Seniors, Juniors, Over 40’s, Over 50’s and Under 12 National School Children. There will be special group for the children walking the route, fully supervised with two stewards. Refreshments in Fitzsimmons Bar following the event, and times will be published on Facebook. Entry fee is 10.000 euro for adults and 5.00 euro for children. St Patrick’s Day Parade
Arrangements are well in hand for this year’s North Westmeath St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which will start at 5pm. The theme of this year’s parade is “Legends”, and the Grand Marshall will be the winner of the North Westmeath Rose Competition which will take place in Hotel Castlepollard on March 15th. There will be entertainment on The Square from 2pm on St. Patrick’s Day. Among the many events taking place in the lead up to St. Patrick’s Day are a Pig Roast in the Town & Country on March 16th, raffle for television in Comaskey’s, Come Dine With Me Night in Farrelly’s, North Westmeath Rose Competition in Hotel Castlepollard on March 15th, St. Patrick’s Day Walk from McCormack’s on March 17th, Balloon Release on St. Patrick’s Day in aid of Motor Neurone Association.
Parents wishing to enrol their children in St. Michael’s National School, Castlepollard, have until next Friday, March 7th, between the hours of 9.30am and 11am to do so. They may visit the school or telephone the school on 044-9661865.
