Senior Championship Defeat: Drumreilly failed to negotiate the first hurdle of the Senior Championship, when they were beaten by Allen Gaels on a score of 2-11 to 0-11 in Carrigallen on last Saturday evening. In a game that never rose above the mediocre they failed to reach the heights achieved in some of their recent Division 1 games, and were outsped and outscored by a cohesive Allen Gaels fifteen.

Schools Game: Drumlea Girls collected a brace of points with a comfortable win over Cloone at the latter’s grounds on last Friday evening. The exchanges were evenly balanced in the end of the first half, the score was 4-2 to 3-4. Oníosa Mimna (pt.) and Shauna Lavin (4-1) accounted for the Drumlea total. On the change of sides, aided by the wind and with great support from goalie Megan Lavin staunch defenders Michelle McCabe and Ella Quinn Emer McCabe and Oníosa Mimna in midfield and the goal-factory duo of Sinéad Edwards (2-0) and the irrepressible Shauna Lavin (5-2) they ran out worthy winners. The Drumlea lineout was Megan Lavin, Ella Quinn, Michelle McCabe, Emer McCabe, Oníosa Mimna (pt.), Sinéad Edwards (2-0) and Shauna Lavin (9-2).
Recalling May 1992: Frank Holahan scored all five goals when Drumreilly beat Glencar-Manorhamilton by 5-8 to 1-13. There was joy for couples Des and Josephine Donegan with the birth of their baby daughter and Vincent and Bernadette Grimes with the arrival of their baby son Damian D.G. Drumlea school team drew with Aughnasheelin. Ten children from St. Mary’s N.S. received Confirmation. First Communion: Saturday last was a special day n the lives of four local children who received First Holy Communion at Mass celebrated by Fr. Denis Murray P. P. in St. Mary’s Church Drumlea. U-16 League Win: Garadice Gaels continued on winning ways in the U-16 League on last Saturday morning when they recorded a 7-11 to 1-1 win over Annaduff at Aughawillan Park. Dylan Mimna celebrated his return to continuity following a lay-off through injury with a 2-2 tally starting with a 2nd minute. A Fergal McTague 5th minute shot from distance deceived the visitors’ goalie to travel to the back of the net. Annaduff opened their account with a point from a 6th minute free. The home side were dominant for most of the half and added further scores courtesy of Pierce Dolan (1-1), Dylan Mimna (1-1), Ronan McTague (0-1), Stephen Meissner (0-1), Peter Prior (1-2) and Michael Prior (0-1). In the second half Annaduff were inadequately rewarded for effort, but failed to translate possession into much needed scores. Garadice’s Dylan Mimna ((1-0), Pierce Dolan (1-1), Michael Prior ((1-1) and Donal McCabe (0-1) boosted their total.
