Fine Gael: At the recent meeting of the above branch the following officers were elected: Chairman Pat McKenna, Vice Chair: Billy Kelleher, Secretary: Johnny Cooney, Joint Treasurers: Joe Sullivan and Pat McGee, PRO: Paraic Brady, Organiser: Cian Brady. John Duffy MCC, Gerry Brady MCC and James BannonTD attended the meeting. A number of discussions took place at the meeting. The CAP negotiations re Agriculture was discussed and the feeling was that funds should be distributed evenly between all farmers The progress of the Sewerage treatment plant in Drumlish was also discussed. Concern was expressed that the streams affected by the old treatment plant should be cleaned and restored so that fish life could once again prosper. Flooding, particularly along the Black River was also a major concern. While welcoming the “clean up” of a section of this river last year members felt this “clean up” should progress further towards the village of Ballinamuck. It was also felt that the new rising main connection from the reservoir at Prucklish to Drumlish should alleviate the water shortage in Drumlish. Members expressed some concern at the speed of cars travelling through the village and that attention is not being paid to the traffic signals in the centre of the village. The Branch sends congratulations, and wished continued success to the Community Centre committee on its 25th Anniversary and celebrations and on the “Gathering” initiative. The Tidy Town’s Committee was praised for its efforts in enhancing and keeping the village in such pristine condition and for all its hard work and efforts in maintaining it so well. It was wished every success in all upcoming events and competitions in 2013. People were encouraged to join this organisation and assist in making Drumlish a proud place to come to and visit.
