NORTH WESTMEATH ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE: Despite grey skies and a poor weather forecast the rain up just in time for this year’s North Westmeath St. Patrick’s Day Parade. 
Castlepollard’s Clan Lir CCE musicians got proceedings underway with some fantastic traditional music. Blaithnaid Daly performed her recitation “The Audition” which earned her both a County and Leinster title in Scor na nOg and the honour of being this years Grand Marshal of the parade along with members of the Westmeath All Ireland Junior camogie team. Brothers Kevin and Patrick Farrelly received a huge reception and congratuations from the people of North Westmeath for winning the Over 50 World Pool Championship in the UK as they displayed their silverware with great pride from the reviewing stand. The parade was led around the Square by the wonderful Mullingar Town Band who never fail to perform to their best on every occasion. There were fantastic entries from all over this year fro the very young to the not so young. Congratulations to each and very one for the wonderful effort which is very much appreciated and without which there would be no parade. Presentation night is next Sunday night, March 24th, in the Anchor Bar, The Square, from 7.00pm to 9.00pm. All results will be published with more details of the Parade next week.

CHARITY HONDA 50 RUN: Next Sunday, March 24th, sees the eagerly awaited Honda 50 Run, organised and hosted by the Club 50, Castlepollard. The run this year is in aid of Muscular Dystrophy Ireland, MDI, and registration takes place from 11.00am at Ringtown GAA Centre, Whitehall, Castlepollard, and the event starting at 12.00 noon. Usual safety rules apply - No Helmet, No Run! Following the event there will be refreshments and presentations in Ringtown Centre.

5K FUN RUN/WALK: Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall GAA club are holding a 5K Fun Run/Walk next Sunday, March 24th, in Finea, starting at 12 noon. Entry fee is 10 euro per adult and 5 euro per child. For further information contact 087-9714734.
