ST CHRISTOPHERS: The Granard Branch of St. Christopher’s Services are having their Annual Walk from Granard to Abbeylara when all are invited to join in for the walk as well as a a cuppa when you get to Abbeylara.
PHOTO SHOOT: Don’t forget any children and their parents who missed the photo shoot in Streete Parish Park are asked to attend at the Parish Park Centre this Sunday, 24th when Tony Tighe has kindly offered to attend again from 12noon to 1p.m. All past pupils and current pupils welcome. Gathering 2013: Plans are now well under way for our Schools past pupil’s reunion and the event will take place on the weekend of October, 26th next. COFFEE MORNING: And Daffodil day takes place this year in the Church of Ireland, Streete on Friday, 22nd from 11a.m. to 5p.m. This year it is being organised by Linda Butler and she will appreciate any offers of help on the day. Linda can be contacted on 0894486332.
LOTTO: Streete Parish Park Lotto and Bingo committee wish to say a big thank you to all who support our bingo each Monday night at 8.30p.m. and our Lotto Draws every two weeks. Your support helps us run all our facilities at the complex especially heating and the lighting including the walkway.
BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS: - Details of last weekend’s trip to Strangford are deferred to future notes due to early deadlines. On next Sunday, March 24th, the Ramblers will visit Portlick. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet in Ballymahon at the garage on the Athlone road at 2pm.
TALK: - The Man Who Married a Mountain and Other Stories including How the Irish conquered the Alps Is the title of a talk to be given by historian and mountaineer Declan O’Keeffe in Outdoor Sports Mullingar on 26th March next at 7.30 pm. We would like to extend an open invitation to all members of the Boherquill Ramblers Walking Club. In his paper Declan will imbibe you with the tales of adventurers including Mullingar natives, Anthony Adams Reilly, the first man to map Mount Blanc and Lieutenant Colonel Charles Kenneth Howard-Bury, who led the first expedition to Everest in 1921. Declan’s 45 minute talk tracks the path of Irish Mountaineers in Alpine Mountaineering in the Victorian Age and is sure to give you a fascinating insight into the golden age of Alpine Mountaineering. We will be extending our opening hours on the night until 7.30 pm and any purchases on the night will be discounted by 20% for all club members. WILDLIFE CLUB: - The last qualifying round in this year’s winter league clay shooting will be held on this Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm, and the final will be held on Thursday 28th. There will be at least three classes in the final with prize money in all classes. The Club’s annual open clay shoot will be held on Sunday 21st April, with €1,000 in prizes. Further details later.
