Fundraising Dance: The Carrickedmond/Abbeyshrule defibrillator group will hold their annual fundraising dance in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on Friday night the 22nd March next. Music on the night will be provided by Jimmy Lennon and friends. 
This promises to be a great night of song and dance and indeed a trip back down memory lane for many as this venue was a popular location for ballroom and country and western dancers down through the years. Dancing on the night from 10pm to 12 midnight and a Waltzing competition will take place. Admission is €10 and refreshments will be served. Proceeds from the night will assist with the maintenance of batteries and defibrillator machines in the parish.

Best of Luck: To Eugene McCormack and the county U-21 team who play Wexford tonight in the semi-final of the Leinster championship. The game takes place in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise with a 7:30pm throw in. Best of luck to all involved.

Holy Week: Fr Tiernan would welcome people who are interested in participating in Holy week ceremonies in Carrickedmond and Abbeyshrule to contact him during this week.

Used Clothes Collection: A used clothes collection will take place from outside Colehill School on Friday morning next, 22nd March. Please leave bags of used clothes etc outside the school wall before 10am.

Well done Justin: Great to see local Irish dancer Justin Mc Guire perform so well in the All-Ireland schools talent search final which was screened on RTE2 television on Sunday last. It was a great achievement for Justin to claim third place in the final. Well done Justin and continued success in your dancing career

Congratulations: To the Abbeyshrule Tidy Towns committee winners of the 2012 Tidy Towns competition and gold medal winners in the Entente Florale European competition who have been selected by the Longford Association in Dublin as the 2013 Special Longford Community award winners. The group will be presented with this special award at the association’s dinner dance which will take place on Saturday night the 13th April next in Moran’s Hotel Dublin. Crèche Open Day: Naoirathre crèche in Legan are would like to invite everyone to their open day on Saturday the 13th April from 12 to 2pm. Enrolling will take place on the day for September 2013. There is a free preschool year and other places available include babies, toddlers preschool and after school care. The crèche is offering a reduced rate for after school children of €4 per evening. Community Games: The local community games group will hold their annual sponsored walk on Friday the 29th March commencing from St Sinneachs NS Colehill at 4:30pm. Sponsorship cards are now in circulation and everyone is invited to participate in the walk in aid of the Carrickedmond Community games group.
