Mullahoran

St. Patrick’s Day: There were large congregations at the vigil Mass in St. Joseph’s Church Loughduff and at the morning Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Sunday last for the National Holiday.
The weather was mixed and cold but nevertheless large numbers were out and about to honour St. Patrick and the shamrock and the usual decorations were very much in evidence. The local parades were the main attraction while some made their way to Croke Park for the Club finals.

Tom Briody: There was much regret in the area on the occasion of the death of Tom Briody, Aughaloora on Wednesday last. Deceased who was aged 81 was a native of Drumgore and was one of a family of 7 of the late Patrick & Kathleen Briody. A quiet and unassuming man he had been ill for some time. He was predeceased by his sister Rose Fitzpatrick and is survived by his brothers Patsy & Jimmy, sisters Maureen, Kathleen and Bridgie, wife Bridie, sons and daughters, grandchildren daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren and a large extended to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. Tom and his brothers were renowned local building contractors and carried out repairs to both churches in this parish as well as the local parochial hall. May he rest in peace.
