VERY REGRETTeD DEATH: There is widespread regret in the Carrigallen parish and surrounding ones at the recent death of Mrs Kathleen Boyle, nee Magarahan Drumcannon,Carrigallen which has occurred at Cavan General Hospital following a brief illness. A member of a large Magarahan family from Killeshandra ,Katthleen came to work in the well known Jack O’Keefe Bar & Grocery business Main Street now owned by nephew Cathal Farrelly in the early 1940s and became very popular with all the local people and was held in high esteem. TEXT ALERT: Community text alert schemes working out well. The above schemes have yet again proven there value after 4 men with addresses in Dublin were charged following a garda pursuit through counties Leitrim Longford and Cavan last Friday morning in relation to a burglary in Killeshandra on Friday 23rd march at a special sitting at Cavan District Court over that weekend, they were remanded in custody. The charge is thought to be just the initial stage in an investigation into a string of burglaries and attempted burglaries in Leitrim Longford Cavan and Roscommon. On Friday morning after Gardai were alerted of burglaries on Tarmon Rooskey ,3 in Mohill also Killeshandra. This is where the text alert schemes operating in Carrigallen Ballinamore and Dromore in county Longford reported sightings of the suspects car travelling through those areas and finally after a long chase over the roads of Carrigallen they finally abandoned their car and took to the fields. Finally they were caught by the alert garda and were arrested. Garda have been asking all farmers living or having land along those roads for to keep an eye out for packages that they might have thrown into those fields making their getaway when driving through Rossan Balinamuck and Carrigallen . Such as handbags & jewellery. The text alert has been working very well in the carrigallen and Moyne areas and long may it continue to catch those heartless gangsters and put them away for a log holiday.
