Scouts: Following a successful meeting at which sufficient volunteers came forward to take the next step in scouting! Summer Camposis: A series of Summer Camps in Ardagh Community Centre, Ardagh Village, Co. Longford, for children of all ages to come and have fun, there will be a full choice of age appropriate activities. Should a date fill with a certain age group we will notify contacts to ensure social comfort for all children. Dates are filling up: 11-15 July, 18-22 July, 15-19 August. Guides: Guides starting in September for girls aged 10½ - 15 – a whole new adventure for the older girls. We are lucky enough that Janice is volunteering to take up the challenge of becoming a Leader in the Irish Girl Guides. Please forward names of girls interested in moving on to Guides in September – 086 237 2616.

Finals: Thank you to the 25 children from Ardagh/Moydow who participated in the County Athletics final last weekend in Ballymahon. Of course we could not do it without the support of all the parents who cheered the children in every race.We had a fabulous day wearing the brand new Ardagh/Moydow Community Games jerseys. Special thanks to Tom & Bernie Whyte, Paddy McPhillips, Leslie Finnan, Tom Ward and Martin Smyth who put in all the work on behalf of the children. Our grand total on the day was 1-1st place, 3-2nd place and 8 events-3rd place. Commiseration to Niamh Sheahan and Petrina Carrigy who were not able to compete as they were both injured. CEMETERY SUNDAY: Cemetery Sunday in Ardagh takes place this year on Sunday 3rd July with mass being celebrated at 11am. The ceremony will be followed by a blessing of the graves. Residents of the parish are advised to take away old wreaths and rubbish when preparing graves for the day. A collection will take place a the cemetery gates for the upkeep of cemetery.

GLEE CLUB: Summer camp (pop singing & dancing) in the Temperance Hall Longford from 4th to 8th July 10am to 1pm. For children from 4 to 12 years. For furher information contact Lisa on 087 7619605. Book early to avoid disappointment.

THANK YOU: On behalf of all parents St Mels National School Parents Association Ardagh would like to extend our warmest thank you to Miss Kearney (principal) and all the teachers teaching assistants and staff for their dedication to our children his year. It was a difficult year for all staff at the school due to the extensive building works and all parents wish to extend their appreciation.
