SUMMER CAMP: Couty Longford youth service are running a Summer Camp in Ballymahon during the week of July 4th-July 8th. DEATH OF BRIDGET KILLIAN:We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs Lily Trautt, Crevaghbeg and Pete Murtagh Derryveigh Kenagh on the sad death of their sister Mrs Bridget Killian (nee Murtagh) Cornagulliagh Newtowncashel after a long illness borne with quiet dignity. A very popular lady in the local community Bridget was a grand quiet lady who worked at Ballymahon livestock mart for a number of years where she was admired and respected by everyone. She will be sadly missed by her family and wide circle of friends. We also extend our deepest sympathy to Bridget’s husband Brendan to her daughter Carmel (Kelly) our local librarian, Martina Geraldine and Brid sons Padraig Seamus and Kevin aunt Katie sons-in-law, daughters in law grandchildren brothers in law, sisters in law and all her relatives and many friends. May God grant rest to her soul.
FOOLISH PRIDE: Congratulations to Anne Skelly native of Dublin who now lives in abbeyshrule with her husband Mike who will be hosting the official launch of her new novel ”Foolish Pride” in the library in Longford on June 29th. Anne’s novel will be officially launched at 7.30pm by well known Sligo based author and memoir writer Brian Leydon. We wish her every success with the book.
WEDDING BELLS FOR MARY: Congratulations to Mary Jordan , daughter of Bernard and Maureen Terlicken who got married recently to Ernie Ellis,Enniskillen at St Dominics Church in Kenagh. The marriage ceremony was celebrated by Fr Tom Barden. Mary’s bridesmaid was Caroline Jordan and bestman on the day was Bernard Jordan. The pretty flower girls were Gemma Ellis and Ava McCormack while the page boy was Adam Ellis. Music at the church was performed by Kenagh man Tony Moran and the newlyweds celebrated their big day at the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule with their family and many friends. We send them our best wishes for the future.
GLEE CLUB SUMMMERR CAMP: The Glee Club Summer club with pop singing and danccing will be held in the Temperance Hall Longford from 4th to 8th July from 10am to 1pm daily. Children 4-12 welcome. LEGION OF MARY: A branch of the Legion of Mary has been formed in Ballymahon.The group meet every Thursday evening at 7.30pm in the sacristy of St Mathews Church under the spiritual direction of Fr Padraig McGowan. You are most welcome to become a member or attend one of our meetings. Curenttly members of the Legion of Mary are doing house-to-house visitation in the parish and hopefully they will be well received. KILBEGGAN RACES: Congratulations to local horse trainer Paul Flynn who trained the winner of the second race, the Fay bookmakers handicap hurdle at he races in Kilbeggan on Monday evening last week. The prize was presented to the owners of “Archie Boy” the MML Syndicate by sponsors of the race,Paul Fay and his daughter Sinead.
