Defibrillator Group: A CPR/AED course will take place in the parish hall for all interested in learning the skills of CPR on Thursday night the 30th June commencing at 7.30pm. This will be the last course until November next. If you would like to book a pace on this course please contact Séamus McGuire on 086 8286748, Rose Campbell on 086 3993933 or Kathryn Keenan on 086 8226894 if you are interested in attending this course. We would like to specially hear from people willing to train from the Kilcurry/Tenelick areas as it is hoped to place a new defibrillator in that area in the coming months.

Book Launch: Local author Anne Skelly from Glebe will launch her new book “Foolish Pride” in Longford Library on this Wednesday night the 29th June at 7.30pm. The book will be launched by author Brian Leyden. Anne invites everyone from the parish to attend this launch. Congratulations to Anne and continued success for the future.

Boat Rally: After a very entertaining weekend last weekend in Abbeyshrule and Brannigan the boats on the Royal canal move on to Foiagha on Saturday next the 2nd July for more fun activities. On Sunday 3rd July it’s on to Kenagh for more fun music and craic and for the first time on the 9th July the rally visits Killashee.

Thanks: The Carrickedmond pastoral council committee would like to thank sincerely Margaret Dowler Abbeyshrule who kindly put on a very interesting flower display at the recently held party afternoon in St Sinneachs hall for the senior citizens of the parish. After the display Margaret donated the flower presentations to the group.

Senior Citizens Tour: The local pastoral council will organise a senior citizens outing for all senior citizens of the parish on Wednesday 13th July to Powerscourt. If you would like to book a place on this day out please contact Edel Shannon 087-1261831, Rose Ma Grath 087-9671698 or Fr Tiernan on o44-9357442. The tour will only take place if there are a sufficient number of people interested.

Badminton Club: The Carrickedmond badminton club will hold their AGM in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond on tonight Wednesday night the 29th June at 8pm. All club members and new people interested in joining the club are invited to attend the AGM.

ICA: The Longford ICA Federation are holding the following gardening competitions. A Flower Garden Competition, this competition is confined to ICA members only. A Vegetable Garden Competition which is open to all gardeners male and female in county Longford. A Children’s Section to include a small plot of either flowers or vegetables. Open to all children in Co. Longford. Adjudication will take place at the end of July to early August. Entries before June 30th to Lilian Walsh on 086-6014661.

Camp: County Longford youth centre are running a youth camp in Legan from the 15th to the 19th August. This camp will be Youth for boys and girls from teen age up to 18 years. For further information call 043-3340907.

Novena: The parish novena continues in the Sacred Heart Carrickedmond this week and finishes on Friday 1st July. This novena will be offered for peace in the world, for the sick and for vocations. Mass and the novena prayer will be at 8pm each evening. Everyone is welcome to attend the novena.

Bon Voyage: To Michelle Mulvey Ballintubber daughter of Martin and Rose Mulvey who emigrated recently to Australia. We wish Michelle good luck on her travels.

COMMUNITY GAMES: On Sunday last 26th June, 37 children from the parish took part in the County Finals in Ballymahon in Field Events and Track Events. All the children give off their best on the day. We thank the children for coming out on the day to represent their parish, you all should be very proud. To all the parents who have helped in any way up to the finals and on the day, we say well done for all your support and keep up the good work. The following is the winners from the County Finals - GOLD - John McCormack U8 - 80M, Ciara Mulligan U10 - 100M, Shauna McCormack U16 - 100M & U10 Mixed Relay Team - Mark McCormack, Grace Esler, Sean McCormack, Ciara Mulligan. SILVER - Enda Farrell U14 - 800M, U14 Girls Relay Team Eva Stewart, Aine Farrell, Sinead Farrell, Edel Ferry. BRONZE - Emer Esler U14 Long Puck, Ellen Byrne U14 - 80M Hurdles, U12 Girls Relay Team - Orla Farrell, Ellen Shannon, Ellen Kelly, Aimee Higgins. U16 Girls Relay Team - Rachel O Farrell, Tara Esler, Mary Kate Farrell, Shauna McCormack. Congratulation to all and best of luck to the boys/girls who will go on in August to the National Finals in Athlone.

DANCE MUSIC SPORT & ART CAMP: A dance music sport and art camp will take place in St Sinneachs hall Carrickedmond Monday to Friday July 4th to July 8th 10am to 2pm. Children can be dropped off at camp from 9.30am. Fees 50 euro one child 90euro 2 children & 20 euro each child after that of family.
