Killoe

Community Games: Congratulations to our U11 & U14 Tag Rugby teams on their wins in the Leinster quarter finals which took place at St. Teresa’s N.S. on Friday the 17th of June. Our U11s took on Meath team Clonard. While both team gave good solid performances and were well matched, this young Killoe team kept the upper hand at all times throughout the game. Killoe had speed on their side and showed a great ability to dodge tagging, finishing with a nice win and a 9-6 scoreline. Congratulations to team members Evan Farrelly, Sarah Tully, Niamh Harte, Eoghan Smith, Matthew Lenehan, Emily McCarthy, Euan Finneran, Aishling Morrissey, Megan Lee, Charlie King, Enda Bracken and James Moran on a fine game and a great win. Many thanks to the Clonard side for a great sporting game of Tag Rugby. Our U14s played against Summerhill, Co. Meath. This was a tougher game of Tag Rugby. Summerhill took the lead in the first minute but Killoe came back quickly and maintained the lead for the rest of the game. While the first half flowed smoothly, the second half proved to be difficult and scrappy. However, Killoe remained strong with some great runs across the try line and emerged winners with a 13-11 finish. Congratulations to team members Laura Smith, Shona Rowley, Katie Morrissey, David McCarthy, Conor Moran, Ciaran Brady, James Bracken, Brian Harte, Micheal Hughes, Shane Thompson, Ryan Moffett and Oisin Bennett on a feisty game of Tag Rugby and a nice win. Thanks to Summerhill for a challenging game - it was a great test for our team and will stand to them in the next round. Thanks to Steve and Stephen Coy for all their work with these two teams. We wish you all well in the Leinster semi-final which will take place on the 9th of July in Carlow. There was great support for the Killoe teams on the sidelines - thanks to everyone who came to cheer them on, to all the parents who generously provided a great range of refreshments and to everyone who helped out on the evening. Many thanks to Trevor McHugh for refereeing both games. Last, and by no means least, thanks to Colm Harte for the use of St. Teresa’s N.S. for training and for competitions – we greatly appreciate having these facilities available to us.
