Lotto: No winner of the lotto for €15,000 & €5250. Draw Monday 13th June results. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 4, 17. The numbers drawn for the second jackpot of €5100 were 6, 7, 26, 27. There was no winner of the jackpot. The six drawn winners are Farrell Reilly, Thomas Tighe, Nigel Creagh, Pauline Dunne, Nathan & Kyle Creagh. The next draw is 27th June 2011 and this draw will have two jackpots one for €15,000 and the next for €5250. The results of that draw will be printed next week. Tickets can be brought in Sexton’s Shop, Rathowen Post Office, Connaughtons Pub and Feericks Hotel, along with several people selling. CAKE SALE: The newly formed Parents Association of St Mary’s National School held its cake sale in the church grounds last Sunday 26th straight after 11am Mass. The event was organised to introduce the Association to the community and to raise money for their insurance and children’s events at the school. The cake sale was a great success with a large amount of donations from parents and locals. The Parents association would like to thank most sincerely all who donated cakes, tarts and buns for the event and all who purchased and had a cup of tea and stayed around to make it an enjoyable community event. The parents association made €523 with the cake sale, so they are off the starting block.
Defibrillator Training: There was a great turn out at the fundraiser, to purchase a Defibrillator, which was held in Feericks Hotel on Sunday 5th June. Thanks to all for their support. Training in the use of the Defibrillator will follow shortly in Feerick’s Hotel, and anyone interested in same can contact Martina at 086-4073335.
SUMMER CAMP: Looking for some where fun to send the children this summer that is jam packed with activities and fun. Look no further Stepping Stones has the answer. BASKETBALL CAMP: Registration for Basketball Camp, which takes place from 11th - 15th July in Streete Parish Park, will take place this Saturday,25th June, at Streete Parish Park from 5-6pm. Children from 7yrs - 18 yrs will be catered for at the Camp. The Camp Director is Paul Cummins, Irish International player, Paul will be assisted by our Club coaches. Our Club will also be taking bookings for the Camp at the Sports Zone in the Town Park, Mullingar, next Saturday 25th June, from 2 - 4pm. This will be convenient for any one wishing to book a place on the Camp who live in Mullingar and surrounding areas. Please book early in order that we can plan our Camp to cater for all ages and abilities. ST FINTAN’S GAA: Well done to the U8 last Tuesday in Cusack Park, the rain didn’t dampen their spirits. Hard luck to the U10’s who played a great game on Saturday morning against a very strong St Lomans, the playing field was evened in the second half after a couple of small changes. We were without some player’s who were sick and we wish them a speedy recovery. Training is in Streete Park from Thursday and for the month of July. The next scheduled game is for the U10’s – V- Ballinacarrigy in two weeks time and it is a home game. Thanks to those who helped make Monday night’s cake sale a success. Tidy Towns: The last few months have seen a lot of dedicated hard work being undertaken by this committee. The village is looking well. The Tidy Towns Auditors have commenced their surveys for this year and will continue over the next few weeks, and we hope that Rathowen will figure prominently, as it deserves to do, as one of the tidiest in the County. If anybody has a spare few hours over the next 4 weeks, we would be delighted if you could help. Contact John Feerick (Chairman) and he will advise on any work that is required.
CANCER SOCIETY: The Irish Cancer Society thanks all those who contributed to its recent Collection taken up at St Mary’s Church, Rathowen. The amount raised was €101.
