Killashee

CONGRATULATIONS: Congratulations to all the children who represented Killashee in the community games county final in Ballymahon on Sunday last. Twenty children from the parish turned out and gave their very best effort and brought home five medals. Well done to Aoife Kavanagh who won the ball throw U12, Kyana Lee was second in the javelin U16, Cait Kiely was second in U10 100m, Rian Cox was second in the long puck U12 and Clodagh Kiely was third in the walking race U13. Aoife now goes on to represent Longford in the national finals in Athlone which takes place in August and we wish her every success. Unfortunately a number of children did not turn up even though they had signed up to take part in events as always anyone can be genuinely unable to attend on the day but in other cases some other child is not getting a chance take part in the county final which is very unfair. Thank you to everyone who helped out in any way all year for what was another very successful year for community games in Killashee. Stonepark summer camp will take place from Monday 18th July to Friday 22nd July at Stonepark National School. It will cater for children who are currently attending primary school. It promises to be a fun-filled week of various games and activities. For further information or to book a place contact Clara Brady on 086 3581715 or Lorraine McCloughry on 087 2288159.
