Edgeworthstown Development Association has been to the forefront of community development for the last thirty years and is now delighted to announce that it has purchased a very historic site on the Main Street formerly known as “The Imperial”. This is a major achievement for the Association and adds to its existing facilities The Recreation Park in the Green and the Old Schoolhouse. In order to fund all of these community projects the Association are holding a Race night in Mullingar on Saturday the 12th September and we would ask all members and families to support it by buying a ticket and coming along on the night. Tickets cost €20 and are available in shops locally and members of the committee will be calling door to door selling over the next few weeks. Also tickets available from any committee member or from the Town Development Office. If you would like to make a donation you can do so through PayPal on www.edgeworthstown.net/contact/donation-page/.

We have two events planned for Heritage week. On the 30th August we will have a Literary trail walk at 3pm from St. Mary’s Church and ending at St. John’s. At 5pm we will dedicate our World War One Memorial. As part of this event a laurel wreath will be laid and if there are family members present they are welcome to lay their own wreaths to mark the occasion. Afterwards there will be refreshments in St. Mary’s Hall and a display of information about the soldiers. Both events are free and all are welcome.
