Predeceased by his brother Eugene and is deeply regretted by his loving wife Eithne, sons Raymond, Niall, Gary and Alan, daughters Lorna and Elaine, grandchildren Nicole, Carla, Alisha, Megan, Aaron, Finn, Senan, Tom, Alison, Saoirse, Cathlinn, brothers Pat, Jim, Mick, and Bob, sisters Chris and Margie, daughters in law, sons in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbours. May he rest in peace.
Thanks very much too all the people of all ages who came in very large numbers for Cemetery Sunday on Sunday, 7 June in Carra. A special word of thanks to the people, who mowed, strimmed, cleaned and tidied the Cemetery for this important occasion. Also sincere thanks to the people who helped prepare for and celebrate the Rosary and Holy Mass. Please try to keep the Cemetery in the good condition that it is now in.
Our prayerful good wishes to Deacon Seamus O’Rourke, Colmcille Parish who will be ordained to the Priesthood on Sunday, 21 June in St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford. Seamus spent a week among us in our Parish here from Tuesday, 1 June to Monday, 7 June 2010 as part of his preparation for his Priesthood.
The next Parish Draw is on Thursday, 18 June in Carra at 8.30pm after the 7.30pm Mass and Adoration. Any monies due to the draw, please hand in before then.
Over 50, time to spare an hour on a Thursday morning from 11.00am in the Sports Centre. Come along and join in the fun, we do all sorts of exercises. You can do these movements by sitting on chairs or moving about and letting your hair down, lots of fun and craic. Why not give it a try; we will make you feel welcome.

The seats for the Lissadell House day trip on 13 July are getting scarce; a deposit secures your seat.

A group of Spanish Studies are hoping to attend a summer camp in Cnoc Mhuire, Granard from 4 July to 24 July. The students (boys/girls) aged 12/13 years are currently looking for host families. Well done to all the boys and girls who ran in the County Finals on Sunday. The sun was out and there were some very close races. Pride of place this week goes to Rachel Gillian Gold, Cian O’Donnell Gold, Liam Fagan Bronze, and Rose Hanlon Silver. Rachel and Cian will now go on to represent Longford in the All Ireland finals in August.
Thanks very much to everybody who came in such large numbers to the Dance on Friday, 12 June in our New Parish Centre, Abbeylara. Thanks very much also to all the stewards and helpers for the event both inside and outside the Centre and all who helped in any way in preparing for the Dance and in helping out in any way before, during and after the Dance. Thanks very much to the Supporting Group, Mary O’Connor and Pat Kelly and to Derek Ryan and his Band for providing top class entertainment on the night. Thanks again to everybody for creating such a great atmosphere. It is wonderful to have a Centre capable of hosting such a large event as we had on Friday, 12 June in Abbeylara.
The Parent’s Association of St. Patrick’s National School Killeen are hosting a 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, June 21 next, starting at McElvaney’s. Registration will take place at McElvaney’s from 11.00am to 12 noon. Cost is €10 per adult, €5 per child (U16) or €20 per family. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Your support would be very much appreciated.
