The late Elizabeth Kiernan
Elizabeth (Dottie) Kiernan, passed away on Friday the 27th of March at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Drogheda after a brief illness. Pre-deceased only last December by her beloved husband Peter and also by her son Philip. She is survived by her children Edward, Pete, Martin, Alice, Anne, Marie and Breeda, daughters in law, Maureen,and Beverly, son in law Walter, her grandchildren, her relations and her very many great friends. Elizabeth Kiernan nee Mulligan was affectionately known to everyone as Dottie and she made everyone feel welcome. Dottie loved and enjoyed life to the full from perfecting a special recipie to sitting in the garden with her book and listening to the birds singing or going for a day out to the beach and of course looking after and caring for her much loved family. Her remains reposed at Finnegan’s funeral home Monday evening the 30th, prayers by Fr Jason Murphy, Tuesday her funeral mass was concelebrated by Fr Semaus McKeon and her remains were brought to Mount Jerome Crematorium. To her family and friends we offer our deepest sympathy. May she rest in peace.
The North Longford Men’s Group resume their meeting this week at Community Centre, Aughnacliffe. The trip to Dublin takes place on Tuesday, April 14th taking in Dublin Castle and GPO museum. A great day in store. Arrangements for our 2015 annual summer trip to Sunny South East staying at the Talbot Hotel Wexford from June 23- 26th. Anyone interested please contact any club member. On Sunday week, April 19th at 12 noon, Philip Reynolds is to plant a specimen Oak Tree, Quercus Robur, in Leebeen Park to the memory of his late father, Albert and the Joint Anglo-Irish (Downing Street) Declaration of December, 1993. He will also dedicate a new park bench also donated by the late Taoiseach’s local friends and by kind permission of the Leebeen Park committee who continue to augment the park’s popular facilities. All are invited to join local representatives from across all boundaries and divides in acknowledging the initiative that brought decades of strife to an end.

A special thank you to the underage players who sell the bulk of the lines for this fundraiser and of course the families, friends and supporters who buy the lines. It was great to see a big crowd turnout to see our underage players receive their medals for 2014 successes. The Minor team received B Championship and League winners medals with the Juvenile team receiving Championship Shield winners medals. Thanks to the parents who helped out organising the event.

Martin Cadden’s Monster Tractor Run in aid of The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund taking place Saturday, April 18th from Mullahoran GFC grounds starting at 1pm. Refreshments served before and after the tractor run. A passenger will be aloud on a tractor if the tractor has a factory fitted seat. All tractors welcome.
