Drumreilly Active Age Group held the annual general meeting on last Wednesday, January 21st. The minutes of January 2014, and a Review of the activities of the past year were read, and an account of the Group’s finances was furnished. The Officers for 2015 were elected and are as follows: Chairman: Pat Conefrey; Vice-Chairperson: Tess Gallogly; Secretary: Frances O’Reilly; Asst. Secretary: Rose Conefrey; Treasurers: Ciaran Holahan and Riny Jannink; P.R.Os: Christy O’Reilly and Antoon Jannink. In a short meeting which followed the election of officers, the following matters were discussed: Group Membership Fees which are due by February 25th, an outing and a meal on St. Valentine’s Night and a new date for the Forum.

Three Feasts

Sunday next the first day of February will be the feast of St Brigid, lover of animals, friend of the poor, adviser of chieftains, known as Muire na nGael, who built her first church in Ardagh Co. Longford and her chief convent in Kildare. Monday will be feast of the Presentation and Candlemas Day. Tuesday will be the Feast Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, patron saint of throat ailments, who met his death by beheading. It is said that on his way to prison he miraculously cured a boy from choking to death.
