Death of JP Lynch
The area lost one of its oldest senior citizens with the death of John P Lynch, Corfree, Loch Gowna which occurred at Cavan General Hospital on Friday, 16 January. John P had reached the noble age of 98 years. He enjoyed life in the company of his son, Joe and daughter Mary in Corfree right up to the last few days of his long life. He had a great interest in sport and especially football and greyhound racing. For many years he bred and raced his own greyhounds. A prominent Fine Gael supporter, he was a familiar figure in the local polling station on election days for many years. He enjoyed music and his favourite song was “Loch Gowna’s lovely shores” which was sung by the choir as his remains left the church. He will be sadly missed and especially by his son Joe, daughters Mary and Peg, sister Peg, son in law Bernard, grandchildren, nephews, nieces relatives friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. His remains were removed from his residence on Sunday morning to the Church of Holy Family Loch Gowna where members of the local GAA and other committee’s formed a guard of honour. Following 11am Mass burial took place in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.
