It is with deep sorrow we report the sad death of Ronan Reilly at his home in Dring on Tuesday of last week, 4th August. Ronan is son of Pat and Martha and grandson of Mrs. Jenny McGivney. He is survived by his mother, father, grandmother, sisters, Patricia, Ann Marie, Jacinta, Yvonne Elaine, brothers, Noel, Enda, Declan and Damien. Ronan’s removal took place to Purth Church and his funeral took place following concelebrated Mass in Purth Church on Saturday morning with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace. Ronan was well known in this parish as he was a nephew of John Noel McGivney. We extend sincere sympathy to the Reilly & McGivney extended families on the death of Ronan at such a young age.


The 8p.m. Mass in Boherquill this Saturday, 15th is an Anniversary Mass in memory of the late Dympna Coyle, Lismacaffrey. Please note that Anniversary Masses can be booked with the priest in the Sacristy after Mass.


The Longford Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Saturday, September, 6th starting at 2.30p.m. The bus departs Boherquill at 9.50a.m. and the fare will be €16.


We extend our sympathy to the extended Higgins family on the death of Patrick Higgins, Ballymorris, Granard, Managing Director of Pat the Baker, Granard. Paddy is husband of Mairéad and father of Melanie, Sarah, Patrick, Shaunagh and Dylan also Grandfather of Alanna, Noah and Oscar. He is survived by his brothers, Michael and Jim and sister May Gaynor, Lisryan. Deeply regretted by his sons in law, sisters in law and extended family. Patrick’s removal took place to St. Mary’s Church, Granard on Sunday evening last with funeral Mass on Monday and burial in Granardkille new cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Wildlife Club

The club hopes to have two teams taking part in the County Longford D.T.L. Clay Shoot due to be held in Abbeylara Shooting Grounds on next Sunday, 16th August. All the best to everyone taking part.

St Fintan’s Cemetery

It has come to the notice of the Cemetery Committee that old flowers and rubbish is bring left in and around the cemetery. We ask everyone that’s tidying plots to please take away all rubbish with them, so that the cemetery can be kept clean and tidy.


Numbers drawn in Streete Parish Park Lotto on Monday, 3rd August were 1, 13, 21 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. €40 winners were: Denise Grimes, Mairéad Parker and John Morgan. Next Lotto draw is on Monday 17th August when the jackpot will be €7,000. Thank you for supporting our community.
