The annual Carrigallen/Drumreilly Senior Citizens Party will be held in The Kilbracken Arms, Carrigallen on Sunday December 7th. Invitations are being sent out. It is almost inevitable that some body may be forgotten. If you are one such person, please inform the Committee, or if not, feel welcome to come along.

The fifteen members present at last Wednesday’s weekly meeting dealt with a big volume of business. A Bowling with the Fenagh Group and a date for same in Ck on Shannon was discussed. The making, storing and sale of Christmas wreaths and the disbursement of the profits were finalised. Riny and Chrissie reported on the Go for Life HSE meeting in Mohill. The organisation and venue for the annual Christmas Party on December 17th was discussed.
The sudden death of Mrs. Mary Maguire, Corramahon on Wednesday of last week has evoked widespread sadness. Her funeral took place on Friday following Mass of the Resurrection in Aughawillan Church to St. Mary’s Cemetery Drumlea. Sympathy is extended to her son Gene, daughters Veronica and Dympna, her sister Esther, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband John in mid-September. Faoi chúmhdach na naingeal go raibh a hanam dílis.
Recalling November 1995
A census of Drumreilly Upper taken by the pupils of St. Mary’s N.S. Drumlea indicated that there was a population of four hundred people in the one hundred and forty families. Drumreilly G.A.A. Club and the Community Centre Committee decided to run and share the profits from the 26thn annual Bazaar. Denis Smith., Ardunsaghan had taken up employment in Connecticut. Following a great display on Sunday November 6th athlete Mary McKeon booked her passage to the All Ireland Cross Country finals. During excavation of the Group Water scheme in trenches in Drumlonan contractor Frank Reynolds unearthed a milestone. The following officers were elected at the A.G.M. of Drumreilly Foróige Group: Chairperson: Christina O Reilly, Crickeen; Vice-Chairman: Raymond Holahan, Drumlea; Secretary: Karl McCartin, Keelrin; Asst. Secretary: Patrick Gannon, Kinkeen; Treasurers: Nathan Maguire, Mullaghmore and J.P. Gannon, Kinkeen; P.R.O: John McKeon, Drumlea. Former Kilmore resident and Mohill Businessman Gene Baxter was among the sixty nine Food Centre proprietors nominated by the Irish Quality Association as winners for their commitment to Hygiene standards. The birth of their baby son brought joy to Christy and Patricia McCartin, Carrickmakeegan. Drumreilly bade farewell to further action in the U-21 Championship when beaten by 4-9 to 0-8 by St. Francis’. In Division 1 St. Mary’s prevailed by 1-6 to 0-7 over Drumreilly. In the U-16 League Drumreilly suffered one point and four point defeats by Kiltubrid and Glenfarne respectively. The deaths took place of former Gubbs resident Mrs. Elizabeth Leddy, High St., Ballinamore and Mrs. Mary Jane McCartin, Gubbs. R. I. P.

Tickets are now on sale for the Drumreilly G.A.A. Club Draw. The proceeds will go to further development on the pitch and Club rooms. The prizes are as follows: 1st: €3,000; 2nd: €1,000; and ten prizes of €100. The draw will take place on December 6th.
The local support for the recent Shoebox Appeal was generous. The organisers wish to say thanks for all who contributed to make Christmas a happier time for children less fortunate than our own.
A clothes collection as a fundraiser for St. Mary’s N.S., Drumlea will be held on Tuesday, November 25th. Donors are asked to drop in their bags at the school on Tuesday next, November 25th but not before Monday the 24th. Thank you.
Drumreilly annual Bazaar will be held on Friday and Sunday, December 5th/7th.
