All three teams were in action again this week. Streete B had a good win against Ballymore at the Streete Complex on Tuesday night. The following night Streete C travelled to Castlepollard and had a narrow win. The A team were in Tyrellspass and let a half time lead slip and were eventually pipped at the post by the bonus point. This concludes the first half of the league. All our teams are very much in contention with the C team leading division 2. We are starting the Christmas doubles next week and hope to play it off on Tuesday, 16th December. New members are welcome to join at any time.
Many of the trees were still showing their autumn colours in Derrycassin Wood for the Ramblers visit on Sunday November 9th. The Wood is a mixture of native and introduced varieties of trees, some remaining from the long-gone estate whose land Coillte now owns. A surprising number of birds could be heard singing in the still air among the trees. The Ramblers will walk in Rathowen Bog on Sunday November 23rd. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at the start of the walk, between Streete and Rathowen, at 1.45pm. The route is a 6km return walk through the bog to Ballinalack and back. The Ramblers Christmas Party will be held in the Hotel Castlepollard on Sunday December 14th. There will be a walk in Castlepollard starting at 2pm and the meal will begin at about 4pm. The charge this year will be €20 each and those who would like to join the Party are asked to text Brian Nerney at 086 2596656 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible to ascertain numbers. Donations for the raffle will be very welcome.
