His countless friends extend birthday greetings to popular entertainer Joe Gorman who this week (November 22nd) celebrates his Birthday. As a singer and entertainer is known throughout Cavan and adjoining councils where his rendering of songs made famous by the world re-nowned Elvis has held audiences spell bound while his musical selections on piano and mouth organ are a treat not to be missed, Happy birthday Joe.
Will be officially turned on in Ballinagh on Sunday, December 7th at 6pm. The event will be of special significance as it will mark the 100th anniversary of the first Christmas lights ever to brighten the streets of out town back in December 1914, Santa Claus will also arrive for this years event and following the switch-on will present gifts to all children in the community centre. In an effort to raise the cash needed to fundraise the event the committee have organised a major pub quiz for Cronan’s Lounge on this Friday night, 21st November at 9pm with valuable prizes to be won and do please give your support.
Rainfall throughout the district over the past week is believed to have broken all records with hundreds of acres of land submerged in from town to four feet of water. At the height of the flooding, local farmers remarked how the present times was not good to be asking for money towards water charges.
A local farmer had a lucky escape while conveying bales of silage by tractor on the Kilsallagh road when one of the bales fell on the roadway, where some of the contents scattered. Fortunately, the driver escaped with minor injuries but was shocked by the incident.
A meeting of Ballinagh womens’ group will be held in the community centre on Monday next, 24th of November at 8pm when a nurse will give a talk on health matters and deposits will be taken on the night for the Christmas party in Cavan on December 12th and please book your place with Eileen.
