On Friday, 27 March there will be a Farewell Concert in Kilnacrott with James Kilbane at 8.30 pm. This farewell concert is a free will offering event and your generosity and support will be appreciated. There will be a door prize of a trip to Medjugorje sponsored by Marian Pilgrimages. All are very welcome and an enjoyable entertaining night is assured.
Door to door fundraisers will be in our Parish for a couple of days during March and April. They will be wearing a blue branded Trócaire jacket and carrying a photo I.D for identification. The purpose of their visit is to raise awareness of the work of Trócaire and to request if you would like to support Trócaire on an ongoing basis. Trócaire works with the poorest families and communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America, helping to build better futures. Please support this campaign if you can. Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers in the Longford Area to help with our charity Collection Day on Friday, 24 April. Collection day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised on the day will be used to ensure that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to realise its promise of offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sport in their area. Granard Easter Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday April 4 and 5. A fun filled, action packed weekend is in store. Our Historical walk will take place on Saturday morning at 11am which will be presented by Jimmy Donoghue, a local historian starting at the Credit Union and finishing on the Motte. Our Grueling 5k run will take place on Saturday afternoon at 3.00pm starting at Kiernan Milling on the Ballinalee Road and finishing on the Main Street. A not to be missed Novelty Race will take place on Saturday night at 9.30pm. Teams of 5 people will attempt the bouncy castle obstacle course!! On Sunday we will have our warm up to the parade with children’s entertainment which includes the following Face Painting, Balloon Modeling, Fire Breathers, Stilt Walkers and Unicycles. The Easter Parade will kick off at 2.30pm followed by live music on the street by Pascal, Liz and Davy. Please remember all floats are welcome in our Easter Sunday Parade and will gather at Granard Mart from 1.30pm! With such a variety of free, live entertainment there is something for everyone at the Easter Festival in Granard!

The Granard Branch of St Christopher’s is holding their annual Easter Bunny walk on Sunday, 29 March 2015. We will be leaving the Granard Health Centre at 3.00pm and walking to Abbeylara where there will be eggs galore and refreshments. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Bunlahy Area Action Group would like to thank everyone who supported their recent Tractor Run. Total monies raised were €3,000, which will be split evenly between The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund and Bunlahy Area Action Group. The Irish Cancer Society provides a number of free services to cancer patients and their families when they need it most. By supporting Daffodil Day, we are ensuring that these services can be continued and that no one has to face cancer alone.
