Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise Dr. Francis Duffy administered the sacrament of confirmation to children from St. Columba’s N.S with pupils from Gowna at the Church of the Holy Family, Gowna on Saturday last. Eleven children from the St. Columba’s School received the sacrament, eight from sixth class and three from fifth. From sixth class were Sinéad Reilly, Lorraine Flood. Evelyn Flood, Connor Leonard, Cathal Byrne, Raymond McGivney, Kian Reilly and Jack D’ Arcy. From fifth class were three girls, Aoife Leonard, Catherine Matthews and Shannén D’Arcy. It was certainly a busy day for Bishop Francis as he performed the same ceremony earlier in the day at St. Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe. We compliment teachers, parents and priests for having youngsters so well prepared for their big day and wish all concerned good luck for the future.
