Sympathy

Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs Noelle Simpson, Loch Gowna Village on the death of her sister, Mrs Olive Ann Heaslip, Killynanum, Carrickaboy, Co Cavan which occurred suddenly at her residence on Wednesday, 3rd September. Also sympathy to Olive’s husband Ben, sons Raymond & Ivan, daughters Jackie, Lorraine and Jennifer, brothers Willie, Donald and Gerry. Her remains were removed from her residence on Saturday and following funeral service at 2pm, burial took place in adjoining church yard.

Condolence

Sympathy is extended to Michael Denning, Enaghan, Aughnacliffe on the death of his brother, Des, Castle Road, Dundalk which occurred on Monday, 1st September suddenly at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Drogheda. Following funeral mass on Friday morning in St Patricks Cathedral, Drogheda cremation took place in Glasnevin Crematorium. May he rest in peace.

Social dancing

Ladies GFC

Gowna ladies GFC have arranged their annual second hand clothes collection on Wednesday, 27th September in aid of the club. If you have any men’s, women’s or children’s clothes, paired shoes handbag, curtains or bed linen please fill the bag that will be delivered to your home shortly and leave for collection date on bag. The more collected the more funds the club receives.

Jack & Jill

On Saturday, 13th September on Druminsin Hill, above Gala shop, Killydoon you can walk, run, dance, hop or skip to support this foundation. Starting time 11am. Wedding bells

Congratulations to Sabrina Dalton, Drumhowna, Loughduff and Benny Brady, Denn who were married on Saturday, 30th August in St Joseph’s Church, Loughduff. To celebrate the occasion a very enjoyable reception was held in the Kilmore Hotel, Cavan. We wish Sabrina and Benmny health and happiness in their married life together.

Harvest thanksgiving service

Loch Gowna Church of Ireland harvest thanksgiving service on Friday, 12th September at 8pm. Preacher Canon David Catterall. Everyone welcome to attend.

Year of the Holy name

2014 is the year of the Holy Name Jesus. The Franciscan Fathers are closely associated with this devotion. Holy Family Church Loch Gowna has the name Jesus. A tridium of prayer and reparation will be held from Thursday, September 25th until Sunday, 28th September – mass exposition of the blessed sacrament. Confession time and rosary will all feature over the three days. Hopefully, people will make an effort to attend and make reparation for the misuse of the Holy Name Jesus.

Station mass

Parishioners in the Gowna area willing to host a station mass in their own home, please contact Fr Fitzpatrick on 043 6683120. Hopefully, this old Irish custom will not die out in the area.

25 Card Game

25 cared game in St Brigid’s Community Centre every Tuesday at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Loch Gowna Credit Union sub office open for business every Saturday evening from 6pm – 7.30pm.

Gowna students bursary

A Gowna students bursary to assist Gowna students undertaking a 3rd level course in 2014 is being provided by Gowna Community Development Association. There are six bursaries available at 500 euro each. Criteria : resident in Gowna hinterland and a college communication confirming acceptance of the student on a 3rd level course. Applications by email sought with name, address, mobile number and 3rd level college course to jerry.fitzpatrick@hotmail.com. A draw on Friday, 19th September will determine the six successful applicants. Any further information required contact Jerry on 087 7953131.

Sympathy

Deepest sympathy is extended to Johnny Kyne, Lanesboro on the death of his brother, Tommie Kyne, Derrycassin, Dring, (formerly of Kyne Bar, Mullinalaghta) which occurred at Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown on Saturday, 30th August. Also sympathy to his sister in law, nephews and nieces. Tommie’s remains were removed to St Columba’s church, Mullinalaghta on Tuesday evening and following requiem mass on Wednesday at 11am burial took place in the local cemetery. May he rest in peace.
