Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs Noelle Simpson, Loch Gowna Village on the death of her sister, Mrs Olive Ann Heaslip, Killynanum, Carrickaboy, Co Cavan which occurred suddenly at her residence on Wednesday, 3rd September. Also sympathy to Olive’s husband Ben, sons Raymond & Ivan, daughters Jackie, Lorraine and Jennifer, brothers Willie, Donald and Gerry. Her remains were removed from her residence on Saturday and following funeral service at 2pm, burial took place in adjoining church yard.
Sympathy is extended to Michael Denning, Enaghan, Aughnacliffe on the death of his brother, Des, Castle Road, Dundalk which occurred on Monday, 1st September suddenly at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital, Drogheda. Following funeral mass on Friday morning in St Patricks Cathedral, Drogheda cremation took place in Glasnevin Crematorium. May he rest in peace.

Year of the Holy name
2014 is the year of the Holy Name Jesus. The Franciscan Fathers are closely associated with this devotion. Holy Family Church Loch Gowna has the name Jesus. A tridium of prayer and reparation will be held from Thursday, September 25th until Sunday, 28th September – mass exposition of the blessed sacrament. Confession time and rosary will all feature over the three days. Hopefully, people will make an effort to attend and make reparation for the misuse of the Holy Name Jesus.

Gowna students bursary
A Gowna students bursary to assist Gowna students undertaking a 3rd level course in 2014 is being provided by Gowna Community Development Association. There are six bursaries available at 500 euro each. Criteria : resident in Gowna hinterland and a college communication confirming acceptance of the student on a 3rd level course. Applications by email sought with name, address, mobile number and 3rd level college course to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deepest sympathy is extended to Johnny Kyne, Lanesboro on the death of his brother, Tommie Kyne, Derrycassin, Dring, (formerly of Kyne Bar, Mullinalaghta) which occurred at Our Lady’s Manor Nursing Home Edgeworthstown on Saturday, 30th August. Also sympathy to his sister in law, nephews and nieces. Tommie’s remains were removed to St Columba’s church, Mullinalaghta on Tuesday evening and following requiem mass on Wednesday at 11am burial took place in the local cemetery. May he rest in peace.
