Community Games Success
Congratulations to the Carrickedmond under thirteen girls community games basketball team, under ten mixed football team and under twelve girls football team who were all crowned county champions following their great wins in their respective county finals last weekend. The girls basketball team took on Newtowncashel in the semi final on Saturday morning and after a very exciting game qualified for the final which was played later on Saturday against Lanesborough. The Carrick girls played their game at a fast pace and clocked up a good score to ensure the county title came back to the parish. Great credit must go to all these young girls and to their coach Michelle Mulvey who had the team well prepared. On Sunday morning the young under ten mixed football team played Killoe in the final. This young team showed great skill and determination throughout the final and in the end ran out deserving winners. Well done to all on the panel and to their coaches Paula McCormack and Kevin Mulvey who also had their team well prepared. The last Carrick team in county final action was the girls under twelve football team. The girls played Newtownforbes in the final. After a great exiting game the Carrick girls ran out winners and brought back to the parish the third county title in two days. Again we congratulate this young bunch of girls and their coach Michelle Mulvey on a great performance. We wish all these young teams well as they now prepare to represent Longford in the Leinster series which will take place during April.
