Parents of children in the Kenagh national school catchment area are reminded that enrolment for the next school year of 2015 – 2016 is currently taking place in Saint Dominic’s National School, Kenagh. Enrolment forms can be obtained by calling into the school or by ringing 3322456.
Kenagh and district development association meeting this Wednesday night, 25th March at 8pm in the Community Centre. We have a new chairperson and want to focus on April Spring clean month as litter dumping on approach roads is spoiling our village. All members new and old very welcome.
Penance services for Easter will be held in the three parishes as follows. Ballymahon at Saint Matthews Church on Thursday, March 26th, Carrickedmond Monday, March 30th and Kenagh Saint Dominic’s Church on Tuesday, March 31st . Times for all above named services will be 7.30pm.
Bowls every Tuesday night in the Community Centre from 8 to 10pm. Newcomers welcome to come along and join in or just have a cup of tea and a chat.
Wetlands Heritage will be holding their next meeting in Cooney’s Hotel Ballymahon on next Thursday, March 26th at 8.30pm. New members are invited to attend as this organisation is now creating an awareness of its existence with the acquisition of a portion of bogland from Bord na Mona and the opening of a new walk way over Ring Dong bog from the Royal Canal to the Interpretative Centre. This walkway is now open to the public and no doubt it will be a new experience for the many walkers living in the locality.
Winners in Saint Dominic’s last Thursday night were Pat and Joe, Pat and Mike, ten games. They shared 140 euro. Table prizes: Bridie and Bernie, Kathleen and Annie, all win ten euro each. Raffle: Bernie Walshe, Mick Maguire, Brendan Hanley, Ivan Jones and Mick Maguire, all win ten euro each.
Church of Ireland Ardagh group of parishes. During Holy Week and Easter 2015 the following services will be held to which all are welcome. 3rd April Good Friday. Special service for this special day in Kenagh Church at 11.30am. 4th April Easter Saturday Ballymahon Holy Communion 7pm, Kenagh Holy Communion 9pm. 5th April Easter Sunday Ardagh Holy Communion 10am, Tashinny Holy Communion 11.30am. As usual Holy Communions to those who are unable to get to church at Easter time because of age or illness and to those in hospitals and nursing homes will be administered during Holy Week by Canon Kingston. The details of the four annual Easter vestry meetings for Ardagh Ballymahon Kenagh and Tashinny parishes will be announced at the Easter services.
St Dominic’s National School Parents Association will hold a Spring Fair on Sunday, April 19. The fair will take place from 1pm - 4pm in St Dominic’s Community Centre and will be an afternoon of family fun for all. There will be stalls, games, face painting and lots of surprises. Further details in the coming weeks. The Parents Association Committee is now gratefully collecting donations of bric-a-brac, books and pledges of baked goods.
