Martin Cadden, Middletown, Loughduff, died Friday, 2nd January. Thomas Donohoe, Mullahoran, died Sunday, 4 January, brother of Sr. Olive who lived in Abbeylara until recently. Kathleen Killarney, Ryhill, Monivea, Athenry, Co. Galway, died Friday, 9 January, sister in law of Kitty Conaty and aunt in law of Margaret Conaty, Cloncovid. May they rest in peace.
The Charity event which was held on 28 December 2014 has raised to date €1,284. Many thanks to all who took part and contributed so generously. Fund remains open for a further two weeks. Donations will be accepted by Mary O’Connor, Carragh.

The Abbeylara/Carra Active Retirement Group are still recovering from the Christmas and New year parties and will meet on 5 February at 11.00am to look ahead at 2015. A quick look back at 2014 ....In March we went to Blanchardstown Shopping Centre for a day out and in April we went to the A/R Trade Show in the Radisson Bleu Hotel in Galway. We held our Annual Bealtaine Sunday afternoon on 18 May in St. Bernard’s National School, Abbeylara. We went on Pilgrimage to Fatima in Portugal on 29 May. The high point of the year was our 5 day trip to Killarney, taking in The Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. In July we had our Annual trip to Knock, Co. Mayo. We also went on Pilgrimage to Medjugorje on 6 August. In December we had our Christmas Party in The Court Hotel, Tullamore, having joined up for the afternoon with all our other members from the Midland Region. We are now looking forward to some new outings for 2015, watch this space. 2014 was also a sad year for our members, with the passing away of three members namely, Bridie O’ Hara, Paddy Reilly and Eileen O’ Reilly, May they rest in peace. We would like to wish a speedy recovery to our sick members and the sick people in our parish.

25 Card Game
A 25 Card Game takes place every Friday night in the Bay Horse, Granard at 9.30pm. New members are welcome. Refreshments served on the night.

Granard Country Markets returns on this Friday morning January 16 at their premises beside the post office from 8.30am to 11.00am. All the usual home baking crafts and fire wood will be available and the folks at the market are looking forward to seeing all their friends again.
