A great night was enjoyed by all on Tuesday of last week in Drumreilly Community Centre where the members of the Fenagh, Cloone/Aughavas, Annaduff/Drumsna, Aughnasheelin, Mohill, Ck-on-Shannon, Killeshandra Groups were hosted by Drumreilly Group at the annual Halloween Bacon and Boxty Social. Following the meal the patrons disported themselves on the maple to the lively and varied music of Rambling Fever. The Committee members wish to thank all who attended, donated raffle prizes, sold and bought raffle tickets and all who gave unstintingly in preparation for the night through preparation of food, setting of tables etc.


A meeting of Drumreilly Community Centre Committee will be held in the meeting room on Tuesday next, November 11th at 8.30pm. All members please attend.

Diocesan Assembly

The Kilmore Diocesan Assembly was held two weeks ago, and good progress is reported on the discussions of the two days of its duration. The delegates stressed that “follow-up and action” were paramount. A report on the Assembly will be made at all the Masses in the Diocese on Sunday November 23rd the Feast of Christ the King. In the meantime the Diocesan Pastoral Council will begin the work of translating the recommendations into a Pastoral Plan that will serve the Diocese until 2020.

Benefit Function

A Benefit function in aid of former Drumreilly residen, Seán Maguire, New York will be held in Drumcoura Lake Resort on Friday, 21st of November at 9pm. We commend this charitable cause to your generosity.

The local recipients of Diplomas on Conferral Day in Sligo Regional College were Michael Holahan, Drumlea (Nat. Diploma in Business Studies) and Fergal Conefrey (Nat. Diploma in Construction Studies-Construction Economics with Merit).Winners in the Community Centre Card Drive were (1st): Jim Holahan, Sallyfield, (2nd): James Holahan, Derrygoan and (3rd.): Oliver Masterson, Ardra. Playing prominent roles in St. Felim’s Junior team’s defeat of Marian College Mohill wee Noel McGirl (right corner back), Seán Mitchell (left half forward) and Connell McGovern (right corner forward). Drumreilly booked a Dolan Cup competition semi-final date against Drumkeerin following their 6-8 to 3-5 defeat of Dromahair at Drumshanbo. The lineout was as follows: Denis Smith, Seán Mitchell, Francis Flynn, Gene Connolly, Niall Bohan, Declan McCauley, Thomas Connolly (0-1), Martin Flynn (1-0), Noel McGirl (1-2), Shane Maguire (1-0), Connell McGovern (0-4), Enda Beirne (1-0), Paul Bohan (2-1). Athletes Bríd Lunney and Evonne Maxwell were members of the Ballinamore team which came home in second place in the Connacht Cross-Country U-11 Championships in Boyle. Siobhán Donohoe had taken up employment with the A.I.B. in Dublin. Twenty tables took part in the Drumreilly Community Centre table Quiz. The Ballinamore team of Seán O’Súilleabhán, Jack McGovern R.I.P., Diarmaid McCaffrey and Donal Gallagher emerged winners with a point to spare over the Moyne team of George Taaffe, John Owens, Mary E. Gray and Pat Jones. The winners in the Junior section were Catherine Reilly, Imelda Holahan, Noel Gannon and Connell McGovern. The death took place of Mr. Kevin Maxwell, Newtownforbes and formerly Carrickmakeegan. R. I. P.

Lotto Draw

The following are the results from the Aughawillan/Drumreilly G/A/A/ Lotto Draw held in Bobby Joe’s, Ballinamore on Wednesday October 22nd: The numbers drawn were 3,21.24 and 25. There was no Jackpot winner. The cash prizes winners were as follows: Joseph Prior, Corlough; Oliver Flanagan, Drumarigna; Thomas O’Rourke, Ballyconnell; Rosaleen McHugh, Boeshill; Loren McCabe, Newtowngore and Terry McGovern. The next draw with a Jackpot of €3,000 will be held in The Viking Lounge on November 5th.

Halloween Frolics

While there was the usual display of pumpkins, ghouls, false faces etc. “Trick or Treat” visits at Halloween, there was very little evidence of the traditional “Snap Apple”, three saucer games ducking for coins yesteryear frolics on Monday of last week. “O tempora O mores!”
