Deaths

Your prayers are requested for the happy repose of the souls of Roni Ball, Church Street, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, who died on Thursday, 23 October, brother in law of Helen Brady, Camagh. Your prayers are also requested for the happy repose of the soul of Phyllis Smith, Kilcogy, who died on Thursday, 30 October. May they rest in peace.

Congratulations to Síle Murphy, Carra and Kevin Murray, Ballyjamesduff who were married on Saturday, 25 October.

First Friday

Friday, 7 November is the First Friday. The sick and housebound will be attended as usual. First Friday Confessions will be held in Abbeylara Church at 7.00pm followed by First Friday Mass at 7.30pm.

Altar List of the Faithful Departed

Please write out the names of those who have died belonging to you and anyone else that you remember. Place your list in the box in the Church. These lists will be placed on the altar and prayed for at each Mass. Prayers will be offered for all our dead at all Masses. Also two Masses (1 in each Church) will be offered each week for the faithful departed, including the people on your lists.

Race Night

Abbeylara GAA Club will hold their annual Race night on Saturday, 27 December in Crawford’s Bar / Lounge. Lines are on sale at €10 per line. Please contact Pat McHugh, 087 6308152 or Padraig Kiernan, 086 3998807, or the usual outlets around our parish to buy your lines.

CPR Training

AED/Defibrillator and CPR training will take place on Saturday, 8 November in Abbeylara National School at 10.00am. Abbeylara AED’s are registered with the National Ambulance Service, Ambulance Control Centre since 2013. In the event of a cardiac arrest in an area of 2Km of the defibrillator, the caller can now be advised of its location. AED’s are on exterior walls located At Bridie Kiernan’s Dalystown, Carra Church, Pat McHugh’s Precast Springtown, Frank Malones Ballywillian, Abbeylara N.S, Dressing room Wall GAA Grounds, and Peter Reilly Renehan. A representative from the National Ambulance Service, Ambulance Control Centre will attend on the day. Please contact 087 7634413/ David/Maura at abbeylaradefib@gmail.com to register your attendance by the 2 November as Trainers need to be arranged.

An information officer from Co. Longford Citizens Information Service is available at Granard Area Action Group Office, Main Street, Granard each Thursday morning from 10.30am to 12.30pm. No appointment necessary.

Bingo

Takes place every Wednesday night at 8.45pm in the Community Centre Granard. Proceeds go towards St. Mary’s Granard and Abbeylara GAA Clubs. Jackpot is now €18,000. Seats are limited with this big Jackpot so come along early. IT COULD BE YOU!

Solemn Novena

In honour of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, continues every Tuesday, until Tuesday, 2 December in The Holy Trinity Abbey, Kilnacrott. Rosary takes place at 7.30 pm with Novena Prayers at 7.45pm and Holy Mass at 8.00 pm.

Line Dancing

The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva with classes for beginners at 8.30pm and for the more advanced at 9.30pm. Come along and enjoy a good night of dancing and fun.

25 Card Game

A 25 Card Game takes place every Friday night in the Bay Horse, Granard at 9.30pm. There will also be live music here on Saturday night by Lip Gloss. Refreshments will be served on the night.

Northern Gaels

Congratulations to the entire panel of players who won the Longford Minor Football Final replay on Saturday 25 October in Pearse Park, in fine style, with a very good display of football. Well done to all the panel of players, to the management and to all involved in Northern Gaels.

Active Retirement

A meeting will be held on Thursday next in Sports Centre at 11.00am. Members travelling to our Christmas Party on the 7 December, please bring deposit for same of €20 to this meeting. The Drop in Group in Coole has invited all our members to their party today, Wednesday 5 in the Community Hall Coole at 11.00am. Members are asked to bring back the money and ticket stubs for the annual Christmas draw, 1st prize €3,000.

Takes place on Tuesdays in Lus Na Gréine, Granard from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. Learn to jive, waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, rock & roll, etc. €10 nightly.

Solemn Novena

The Solemn Novena to Our Blessed Lady takes place in St. Mary’s, Granard on Wednesday 05 November at 7.30pm and will continue until Wednesday 17 December. This Novena is a time of reflection, petition, praise and thanksgiving. We invite you to be part of this great gift.
