The recent incident in Longford town in which a woman from the North East Rosocmmon area was allegedly attacked has shocked many. The family would be known to many and are decent hard working people with business interests in Longford and Strokestown and live quietly in our Community. The family have been very supportive of youth sports in the region and have always been supportive in terms of sponsorship. Their family also attend school in the region. I do not want to disturb their privacy any further at this stage as I understand the lady in question is recovering from what must have been a frightening ordeal. We wish her and her family a quick return to normality.
Community Games AGM
Community Games Tarmon/Scramogue AGM took place and the following officers elected for 2015 – Chair: Mel Trautt, Secretary: Jane Devaney,Treasurer: Pauline Conroy, PRO: Eugene Murphy. Other officers Grainne O’Boyle, Marian O’Grady. Someone urgently needed to organize indoor soccer teams. If no one comes forward there will be no teams in competitions and I’m sure that would be a shame, so please make contact with Grainne or Mel.
Well done Lisa
The Parish wishes to commend Lisa McGowan, Cloonshannagh, Ruskey on her excellent performance in the National Face of Ireland competition which took place recently in Bewley’s Hotel, Ballsbridge. Even though Lisa did not win the competition, she gave an outstanding account of herself and went down very well with the audience and the Judges. We would like to send our congratulations to Eimear Reynolds from Ruskey who won the event. It is a very proud time for Eimear and her family. A welcome home congratulation party took place at the Community Centre in Ruskey on Sunday afternoon last to honour Eimear’s victory. A large crowd turned up for the occasion where some leading performers performed. Congrats Eimear once again and well done to Lisa once again.

It was great to see our choir back in full swing in St Anne’s Church, Scramogue on Sunday morning last. A lot of practice has obviously been put in and well done to all concerned. It was lovely to see the young members of the Choir performing so well.
There was a great Halloween Party on Halloween night in Ballyfeeney National School. Many of the students enjoyed the Disco and the fancy dress. Thanks to all who helped get the School ready for what was a great night.
