The sad news is that the holiday period is now over and children are back at School. We wish well to the children who have moved on from Lismacaffrey School to start another section of their education. We trust their years in St, Fintan’s School, Lismacaffrey will stand to them.
Pride of Place
Reports from Rathowen regarding their entry in the Pride of Place competition last week are very good and we wish them success when the results are announced in November, I think.
The numbers drawn in last week’s Streete Parish Park Lotto draw were 14, 18, 23, 25 with no winner of the jackpot. The three €40 winners were: - Mairead Parker, Streete, L. The Ramblers will meet in Ballynacargy on August 31st for their first walk after their summer break. All are welcome to join the walk through the peaceful surroundings of Ballallen Bog led by Ramblers member Teresa Coloe. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at the Community Hall in Ballynacargy at 2pm. The Ramblers rejuvenated website at boherquillramblers.ie is well worth a visit. It has a selection of photographs of Ramblers activities over the last few years as well as news of future outings and happenings of interest to Club members. If you would like to spread the word about an event in your area please contact Philip Epps at 087 7753612.

The 2014 County Longford DTL Clay Shoot was held in the club grounds on 17th August last, with 23 teams taking part. The Streete club had two teams taking part, with our A team taking first place in the senior section which was the first time that the club has won this event, so we say well done to Tommy Denning, Pat Denning Brendan Mulligan, Joe Kelly, and Patrick Owens who were the winning team. and also to our B team of Michael Campbell, Willie Campbell, Padraig McGauran, Michael Mulleady, and Hugh O’Hara. Two of our club members also won two of the individual prizes on the day with Patrick Owens winning the High Gun prize, and Tommy Denning winning the 15DTL competition, so again we say well done to all involved in winning three cups for the club which is a great achievement for our club which is one of the smallest club’s in the region.
Will hold their first meeting after the summer break on next Tuesday, 2nd September at 8pm in Streete Parish Hall. We look forward to seeing you all and new members will be very welcome! We will have our usual auction of home produce which is always very popular.
