The Clondra Festival Committee would like to thank the following people who helped out over the weekend of 31st of May and 1st June 2014 for our most successful festival to date. Firstly, Michael Casey, (Newtownforbes) who kindly sponsored our fishing competition on Saturday 31st along with Roy Stevenson, Dave McCormack, Yvonne Coates & Jeff Wood who helped organise the competition and also helped out anyone who got into difficulty with their fishing lines and bait. Also to Noel Jinks and Tony McLoughlin for the BBQ afterwards which was appreciated by all who took part. On the Sunday, to all who took part in the slane cutting (too many names to print) but they know who they are. To Hugh and Cathy Hickey for the use of their bog, Liam Farrell, John Farrell and Tony McKiernan who organised the route into the bog and who set up the slanes and facilities in the bog. To all who brought sandwiches and brown bread and refreshments for the slanesmen. Also a big thank you to Paddy Egan who demonstrated corn grinding, butter churning and had a great knowledge which he shared with the large group that was gathered around him. To Mervyn Clendenning for his contribution. To the ladies from the ICA guild who had people eating out of their hands (literally) with the delicious boxty that they were making. People were highly complimentary on their delicious wares. To Pat the Baker, Tom Evers and Dolan Foods for the food supplied by them which went down a treat. To Joe Egan and Michael Kenny who brought along their horses and carriages to transport people in and out to the bog. To Damien Cashin and Ivo Brett and David Molloy for all their help with the canoe lessons on the canal. Also a big thank you to all the national schools from around the area who took part in the scarecrow competition. Not forgetting Terry O’Dea and Donagh McDonnell for their boat trips on the canal.
