Defibrillator fund

Bunlahy Area Action Group host a barbeque at Creegan’s pub, Bunlahy on Sunday, 29th June from 5.30pm. Entertainment from Rhythm and Sticks as part of Creegan’s Sunday sessions. All monies raised are for the purchase of defibrillators for the area. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

5K Fun Run/Walk

Granard Celtic F.C is holding a 5K Fun/Run/Walk/Jog Fundraiser on this Saturday, 21 June. Registration takes place at the Community Centre, Barrack Street, Granard from 10.30am to 11.30am. Cost €10 per adult, €5 per child or family €20. Refreshments served afterwards. For further information phone: 086-0528517. Your support will be appreciated.

Night at the Dogs

Ballymore development fundraising committee will host a night at the Dogs in Longford Dog Track on Friday night, August 29th next. This promises to be a great night out for the whole family and cards will be on sale in the very near future with lines costing two euro each. Full details later but make sure you mark August 29th in your diary and keep it free.

Sympathy

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Mick Fleming, Tarmonbarry who passed to his eternal reward recently. Mick had many friends in this area as he served as Garda sergeant in Ballinalee for many years. May he rest in peace.

Meeting

Clonfin Commemoration committee will hold their annual general meeting in Lus na Greine, Main Street, Granard on Wednesday, June 25 at 8-30pm and all members are invited to attend and new members welcome.

Death

It’s with much sadness and regret that we record the passing of Peter Diffley of Lisrathigan, Coolarty which has occurred peacefully following a short illness. Predeceased by his loving wife Josie, (nee Bannon), Peter is survived by his daughters Margaret Tracy, (Galway) and Bridie Kenny, (Dublin), sons in law, granchildren, sisters and brother, cousins, neighbours and many friends. May he rest in peace. Full obituary next week.
