Cancer - we have all been touched by its devastating effects at some time in our lives, be it a family member or friend. We can only admire and be thankful for the care and support offered by the North West Hospice to patients and loved ones. We may have the best intentions at the time to give something back. Maybe now is the time. On Sunday, the 10th of August 2014, Annaduff GAA in association with North West Hospice and Tesco Carrick-on-Shannon are hosting a Family Fun Day. We invite you and your family to join us in our fundraising where you can make a donation or even sponsor a Hamper. If you know someone, you would like to give something back, then contact Ciaran Dolan on 086 2666088.

Bornacoola’s first team were in action on Saturday last in the first round of the Leitirm senior championship when they travelled to Carrigallen taking on Allen Gaels. A large crowd attended the game and the supporters were treated to nail biting thriller. Allen Gales got off to the better start with a few great points from play as well as two goals and after twenty minutes were eight points ahead, but Bornacoola replied with two points before half time, leaving Allen Gaels going into the interval with a six point lead. Bornacoola upped their game in the second half and notched back the gap between the sides to two points, helped by some excellent free taking from Ollie Vaughan, with full time looming, Brian Conroy hit the back of the net to leave the Bors ahead by the narrowest of margins. The following nearly seven minutes of added time were to say, the least tense with Allen Gaels having several attacks but they were unable to record a score, leaving the honours going to Bornacoola on a final scoreline of Bornacoola 1-12 Allen Gaels 2-8. A truly spirited team performance, keep it up lads. The seniors return to action this Sunday when they take on Kiltubrid in the County Shield Final in Park Seán at 12 noon. A young and inexperienced Junior team were no match for St Mary’s second string in the first round of the Junior Championship in Aughnasheelin on Sunday morning last. Despite conceding three early goals, the young Bors put in a good second half showing, that should give them something to build on for the upcoming games against Domahaire and Drumkeerin in the group. Team on duty was Feargal McGill, John Shanley, John Reynolds, Liam Mulligan, Roy Keenan, Mervyn Howard, Mark Muldowney, Danny Farrell, John Bohan, Tony Shanley, Niall McGowan, Conor Hackett, Alan Bohan, Sean Mc Keon and Ronan Mulligan. Subs used were Dara Healy and Seamus Mallon.
