Under 12 Girls

Congratulations to the Under 12 Girls on winning the Final on Tuesday, 3rd June in Killoe where they took on Carrickedmond. This was a great game and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the supporters. Well done to the management team of Mick Glennon, Laura Glennon and Gerry Burke.

Community Games

Congratulations to the Newtownforbes U-10 Gaelic team who recently won the County Community Games competition beating Killoe in the Final. Last Saturday they played Meath Champions Dunsany in the 1st round of Leinster and won well. All players put in a great performance. Newtownforbes will play the Leinster semi final on Saturday, 28th June in Slashers. Well done to all involved.

5k Run/Walk

A 5k Run/Walk will take place in Roosky Village on Wednesday, 2nd July at 8pm.  Registration of €10 per person or €20 for family at Community Centre Roosky on Monday, 30th June from 7 - 9pm and again at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 2nd July prior to walk. Proceeds in aid of Roosky Church Restoration Fund.

Baby congrats

Congratulations to Brendan and Regina Ghee, Briskill, on the birth of their baby girl, Lily. Emma is delighted with her new sister. Mum and baby are doing great.

Station Mass

A station Mass will be celebrated at the home of Helen and John Denniston for the Cluain Doire area on Friday, June 20th at 8pm. All from the area are welcome.

ICA

While our meetings have finished for two months our activities continue. We had a very enjoyable morning at the Acres pitch and putt club where we ran our competition. While we did not win we had a great time and congratulations to Longford Town Guild who came out winners. Our craft day is in the 5th of July and we are still collecting crafts for our display. Our lotto continues so stay in to win.

Karate Club

A huge thank you to WTKA Ireland who invited our clubs to take part in their recent regional competition. We received a great welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  Well done to Allen, Nathan and Dylan who brought home 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in their respective competition. They were up against some very stiff competitors and did exceptionally well. We want to wish all in WTKA who are taking part in the World Championships in Italy this month the very best of luck. Congratulations also to Ryan and Fiachra who graded last week. Well done to all of our students who sat Junior and Leaving Cert exams over the last number of weeks. The hard work is now done so go and enjoy the Summer. Welcome to Caithlin - our newest student in Newtown. Orbus Theatre

The newly formed Orbus Theatre Productions will have its debut performance in the old convent church in the village next week “The Trip to Bountiful” runs from June 18th – 22nd. Tickets are available from orbustheatre.cim or the Orbus box office on 087 7149105.

GAA Cul Camp

Kellogg’s GAA Cul Camps are a great way for boys and girls aged 6 – 13 to play the games and learn GAA skills in a fun child-friendly environment – and maybe even help make them a GAA star of the future!
